The Prince of Wales has broken his silence on social media for the first time since his wife Kate announced her shocking cancer diagnosis.

Prince William, 41, shared a personal message this afternoon on the official Instagram account he shares with the Princess of Wales.

‘Thank you for so many unforgettable performances with @Lionesses, @racheldaly3. Many more goals for Villa now!’, the king wrote, before signing the note with his personal signature, the letter W.

England’s European Championship winner and Aston Villa striker, Rachel Daly, announced today her retirement from international football.

William, who became president of the FA in 2006 and regularly attends England matches and FA Cup finals, is a big football fan and supports the Birmingham-based team.
