Prince William recently paid tribute to the dedicated workers who care for the homeless during an emotional visit to Aberdeen. The Prince of Wales attended a thank you event organised by Homewards Aberdeen, where he expressed his deep admiration for the “unconditional care, compassion and humanity” shown by those working in the sector.

During the event, William addressed a diverse group of professionals, including night shelter managers, mental health nurses and youth workers, all involved in tackling homelessness. “As you all know only too well, homelessness is a complex issue, and the wide variety of roles and expertise present today reflects this,” William saidas quoted by PA Media.

The future king continued: “From street workers to support workers, youth workers, mental health nurses, housing officers and night shelter managers. And just like our emergency services, you are the people who are there for others when they need it most, providing unconditional care, compassion and humanity.”

During the visit, Prince William interacted with attendees, listening to their experiences and discussing possible solutions to the growing homelessness crisis. He stressed the importance of collaboration, noting: “People want to help“They just don’t know how to do it,” she said, highlighting the need for greater awareness and support to tackle the problem of homelessness.

Earlier in the day, William visited Shelter Scotland’s Aberdeen office, where he spoke to David Gibson, a former homeless man who now works as a housing rights social worker. This interaction highlighted the personal impact and success stories emerging from ongoing efforts to combat homelessness.

Prince William’s visit demonstrated his commitment to supporting those working tirelessly in the homelessness sector and drew attention to the importance of collaborative efforts to find solutions to this complex problem.
