Prince Harry has been encouraged to write another book following the huge success of his memoir Spare. One expert has even suggested that rumours of a sequel were deliberately spread to gauge public interest.
Harry, the Duke of Sussex, left readers in shock when he revealed intimate details about the Royal Family in “Spare,” which is set to premiere in January 2023. Now, celebrity ghostwriter Joshua Lisec has told The US mirror that rumors of a sequel to “Spare” may have been leaked strategically to test the waters.
“It seems like this rumor was, quote, leaked on purpose to see how the public would react, almost like market research to see if people would say, ‘Wow, yeah, that’s amazing,’ or ‘Wait, what? We already know his story, he already did a book.’” Lisec explained.
Lisec believes it makes commercial sense for Prince Harry to publish a sequel given the success of the first book. “That’s my hypothesis, which is not based on any inside information beyond what we know publishers are interested in, which is book sales. When a book like Spare has been so successful, we understand that the publishing industry survives on books about celebrities. Everything else is a project made of love.”
He also noted: “It’s celebrity books that keep the industry alive, that keep publishers semi-profitable. So there’s a book that’s as successful as ‘Replacement“It makes financial and commercial sense to explore the possibility of a sequel.”
The possibility of a second Prince Harry autobiography has certainly sparked interest among readers and publishers alike. The first autobiography offered a candid look at his life and the inner workings of the Royal Family, capturing worldwide attention and topping bestseller lists.
As speculation mounts, it remains to be seen whether Prince Harry will actually write another book. However, given the commercial success and public intrigue surrounding “Spare,” a sequel would certainly be a major development in the literary world.
