Prince Harry’s potential return to the royal family has raised concerns about the trust and loyalty of members of the royal family, with fears that it could “stab them in the back”. According to King Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold, the Duke of Sussex’s past criticism of the royal family, including the monarch and Prince William, may make his return difficult.
In an interview with The expressHarrold said: “I still think they[the Sussexes and the Royal Family]will reconcile at some point when they are older because I can’t imagine two people who were as close as William and Harry not getting on again.”
“Time heals and I have noticed that they haven’t said much, they have been very discreet and that may be showing that they are changing their direction,” she added. Despite the Sussexes’ recent low-key attitude, Harrold believes that rebuilding trust will be crucial to any potential reconciliation.
“It is possible that with time that can be resolved, but the only thing I know is that William has great confidence. I think that is the delicate point and it could hold them back.” Harrold continued“If Harry wanted to come back to the Royal Family, it would not just be about William and Catherine, but about his father, the King and the whole organisation.”
“Harry attacked everyone, so if he suddenly changes things, they’ll say, ‘Oh, this could be risky. ’ They might let him back in, but he might betray them.”
However, Harrold said there was hope that Harry could make peace with the Royal Family, including William, if he was given time to rebuild trust. “The only thing I know is that William has a huge amount of trust. I think that’s the tricky part and it could hold them back,” Harrold said.
“I think William will let time take its course and see how long it takes for the situation to heal.” As the Royal Family and Prince Harry navigate their strained relationship, attention is turning to whether time and a change of approach can pave the way to reconciliation and renewed trust.
