Harry will attend King Charles’ coronation, but Meghan will stay in California with Archie and Lilibet, Buckingham Palace confirms – Sussex’s friend Omid Scobie also says it will be ‘just a quick ride’ for the prince
Prince Harry will attend the king’s coronation in London next month — but Meghan Markle will remain in California with their children Archie and Lilibet.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the news in a statement today, saying they are “delighted to confirm” that the Duke of Sussex will be in Westminster Abbey on May 6.
A palace spokesperson said: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Omid Scobie, a trusted friend and communicator from the Sussex family, tweeted: ‘I understand Archie’s fourth birthday (also on May 6) played a factor in the couple’s decision.
“Expect it to be a fairly quick trip back to the UK for Prince Harry, who will only be attending the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey.”
