Prince Harry has called Oprah Winfrey one of his “fairy godmothers” as he and Meghan Markle partied with Chappell Roan and Carole King last night and spoke at the opening of a bookstore, whose name was inspired by the duke himself, in Summerland, near Montecito, this weekend.
The Sussexes enjoyed an evening out with “friends and family” including literary agent Jennifer Rudolph Walsh and cosmetics star Victoria Jackson on Friday, September 6. Town and Country Magazine revealed – where they hugged longtime friend Oprah and rubbed shoulders with celebrities including Ellen DeGeneres, Jane Lynch and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos.
The outlet reported that the royal couple arrived in a “blacked-out Range Rover” and warmly greeted other guests at the venue.
After Jennifer and Victoria shared a few brief words with their intimate audience, Meghan, 43, who was wearing a chic Ralph Lauren top and matching white pants, was heard yelling “Woo!”

Elsewhere, when asked to recommend a book, the Prince reportedly jokingly pointed to a copy of his memoirs, Spare.
Victoria, who has been close to the royal couple since their arrival in California four years ago, said: “To see them be able to come here and be in a safe space… that’s what we want it to be.”
She added: “Their support and the light it will shed on the Godmothers is quite extraordinary.”
The outlet also revealed that Prince Harry, 39, played a role in choosing the bookstore’s name, as at his own book party in Beverley Hills, he thanked Oprah, Victoria and Jennifer for being his “fairy godmothers.”
It is no surprise then that Spare is proudly and boldly displayed in the shop, alongside his wife’s children’s book, The Bench.
Oprah’s sensational interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, fresh from their resignations as senior royals, rocked The Firm when it aired in 2021.
This firmly cemented the infamous American talk show host, 70 (who attended her wedding in 2018), as an ally of the Sussexes amid their rift with King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
“I support them 1,000 percent,” she had said of the couple’s move out of the UK and their step back from royal duties.

However, despite their seemingly warm relations (the presenter even considers Harry and Meghan neighbours in Montecito), over the years there were rumours that the couple were being “dropped like flies” by Hollywood celebrities, including Oprah.
But a recent meeting between the Duchess and the American television legend suggested everything seems to be in perfect harmony.
Jennifer also shared a personal joke with the Duke as she spoke about learning from people who are younger and older than us, joking that “once he He’s turning 40, he needs to find new people in his 30s!
On Saturday, Meghan looked typically elegant as she spoke at her close friend Oprah Winfrey’s book club session.
The Duchess of Sussex opted for an elegant look as she attended the event at Godmothers Bookstore.
To keep it chic, the mother of two kept it simple in a sleeveless collared jumpsuit by Canadian label Club Monaco, which specializes in luxury casualwear.
Harry and Meghan’s friendship appears to have blossomed when they extended their wedding invitation to Oprah to include the evening reception at Frogmore House, which was attended by only their closest family and friends.
In January 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan fled the royal family and the UK to start their new life in the United States. And a year later, some 50 million people around the world watched as, on March 7, 2021, the duo took part in a tell-all 85-minute interview with Oprah Winfrey.
She paired it with minimal accessories, including her £5,000 Cartier Love bracelet, which she has owned since at least 2017, her Logan Hollowell diamond tennis necklace and Princess Diana’s £17,800 ($22,950) Cartier Tank Française watch.
To add height to her elegant look, Meghan wore her Jimmy Choo Etana 50mm sandals in tan and tortoiseshell.
Town and Country Magazine She revealed that Meghan thanked Jennifer and Victoria “not just for creating the space, but for holding the space for so many people to feel seen through the pages, whether it’s in laughter, in grief, in feeling less alone.”
However, like her close friend Oprah, the Duchess had to leave the “amazing” event early because she had to “make dinner for the kids.”
Talking about Godmothers in their InstagramJennifer said: “I love it. People come here and the phrase we hear over and over again is ‘I don’t know why, but this makes me cry.'”
‘And that makes me want to cry because I know why, because we put so much love and intention into everything.
“It’s like when you take a bite of a cake and you wonder why it’s so delicious. Is it the butter? Well, the butter is the love in this and it’s buttery and delicious.
“And people are feeling that and they feel like they’ve found a home away from home.”
