Prince Harry appears to have come to terms with the distance that has grown between him and his older brother, Prince William, along with William’s wife, Kate Middleton. Living in America with his own family, Harry has become increasingly distanced from his royal roots and his relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and the divide has reportedly deepened over time.
The rift was particularly evident at a recent gathering in London, where both brothers attended the funeral of Lord Robert Fellowes. The observers observed that, despite their common presence, they did not exchange a single word. Royal expert Phil Dampier provided insight into this continued estrangement, telling Fabulous: “They are further apart than ever, and William’s priority is to care for Kate as she recovers from abdominal surgery and step up his royal duties to support the King.”
Dampier also highlighted Harry’s brief visits to the UK, which tend to be brief and disconnected. “It seems strange that Harry likes to fly in and out in less than two days,” he commented. “He did the same thing with the Coronation and it seems he’s just not interested in seeing any of his old friends.”
Referring to the duke’s seemingly reclusive status within his homeland, Dampier commented“It’s become ‘Harry No Mates’ as far as the UK is concerned.” He suggested that Harry’s change of friends could be related to past tensions. “Some of his friends in England didn’t like Meghan and it bothered him, so he excluded them from his life,” Dampier explained.
As Harry continues to prioritize his new life in the US, it appears he has made peace with the distance from his family and his former connections in the UK, and is moving on regardless of the royal traditions he once shared with his brother.
