Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 2024 Christmas card has drawn criticism, with royal expert Cameron Walker claiming it feels “strange” and lacks “personality.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex posted the card, which includes snaps from their international travels, as well as a family photo of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Despite marking the annual tradition of holiday greetings, the card failed to impress either critics or royal fans.
talking to GB News, Royal correspondent Cameron Walker shared his disappointment, noting that the tone of the card seemed impersonal and distant. “That Christmas card was strange because the wording said ‘on behalf of the office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan,’ which seems very far from the principles themselves,” he explained.
Walker went into more detail about the contents of the card, acknowledging the inclusion of a family photo as well as romantic images of Harry and Meghan. “We have this new photograph of Harry, Meghan and their children. Beautiful. “We had a photograph of Harry and Meghan very much loved, lovely,” he said.
However, the royal correspondent pointed out a key issue: the lack of personal touches. “It seems like there wasn’t much personality there. It seems like someone else did it on his behalf.” -Walker commented-.
The card’s inclusion of photos from the couple’s tours throughout the year also raised questions about its intent, with critics suggesting it felt more like a curated highlight video than a heartfelt family greeting. Walker’s comments come just weeks after Prince Harry shared with The New York Times that he is happy with his life in the United States with Meghan and their two children.
Despite their apparent happiness, the Sussexes’ Christmas card has left some questioning the couple’s approach to maintaining a personal connection with their fans.
While Harry and Meghan are no strangers to scrutiny, this latest round of criticism underlines the challenge they face in balancing their public image with their private lives, especially when it comes to traditions like Christmas greetings.
For now, their card has sparked debate, with royal watchers divided over whether it represents a meaningful message or a missed opportunity to show a more authentic and personal side of the family.
