Prince Andrew joins Prince Edward on his weekly horseback ride through Windsor

The Duchess of Edinburgh took her late father-in-law’s carriage to Windsor this morning, as her husband Prince Edward joined his brother Andrew on horseback.

Sophie, 58, had shared a love of carriage driving with the late Prince Philip, who began his competitive career in the sport later in life, when he was 52.

The mother-of-two went for a spin in one of her old horse-drawn carriages around Windsor Castle on Saturday, bundled up in a black wool jacket and brown gloves.

Meanwhile, at nearby Home Park, her husband Prince Edward, 59, joined his brother on their weekly horseback ride for the first time in several years.

The brothers laughed and smiled as they moved around the sprawling estate, on the east side of Windsor Castle.

It should come as no surprise that young Wales take part in the procession, especially as George, 9, and Charlotte, 7, accompanied the royal family during the Queen’s funeral procession. Louis, 4, was deemed “too young.”
