Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei and his wife Anisha Rosnah have shared photos from Mecca, after performing the Umrah pilgrimage to Islam’s holiest city during the month of Ramadan.

The royal couple, who tied the knot in a lavish 10-day wedding in January this year, posted six photos on Prince Abdul’s Instagram page, including an aerial photo of Masjid Al Haram, also known as of the Grand Mosque of Mecca.

A selfie circulated to Prince Abdul’s 3.2 million followers showed the couple wearing white robes known as Ihram clothes.

Pilgrims are obliged to don such robes when they reach certain points called Miqat points.

As is customary for men, Prince Abdul, 32, had bared his right shoulder.

Prince Abdul revealed his engagement to Anisha Rosnah in December 2023, shocking fans of Asia’s most eligible bachelor.

Anisha Rosnah is the granddaughter of an advisor to Brunei’s ruler, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. It is understood she owns a fashion and tourism business and the couple have been dating for years.

The wedding reception turned out to be a lavish affair: Prince Abdul dressed for the occasion in a white and gold formal uniform, while his bride wore a long white dress adorned with pearls.

The couple greeted thousands of people gathered on the streets of Bandar Seri Begawan before arriving at the Istana Nurul Iman Palace in an open-top Rolls Royce.

It was the first time the newlyweds had been seen together since a legal wedding ceremony took place behind closed doors earlier in the week.

Photographs show the couple taking part in a public wedding ceremony under a lavish pergola, before heading inside the palace for an official blessing.

Around 5,000 people were expected at the reception at the Istana Nurul Iman Palace.

Guests included royals from Saudi Arabia and Jordan, as well as Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Philippine leader Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Prince Abdul is the fourth son and tenth child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, 77, and his former second wife Mariam Abdul Aziz, 67.
