Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was among the spectators at St Mary’s when Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed.
The Saints’ 11-year stay in the top flight came to an end after the 2-0 loss to Fulham, and disappointment came in front of Sunak, who was a surprise visitor to the game.
His appearance at St Mary’s comes just days after the Prime Minister visited Southampton to discuss plans to expand pharmacy services to free up GPs.
