Rick Edwards and his wife Emer Kenny shared the sweet moment they met on a comedy show in 2013.
The T4 star, 44, and his wife Emer Kenny, 33, told Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on the Dish podcast that they met through a famous mutual friend – writer and actor Jessie Cave.
Nick, who proposed to Emer six weeks later, said, “Oh yeah, we need to talk about this. I never knew this, never! Did you know this? Do you know this today? The most romantic way you two met on the bus?’
Rick explained, “Well, so we didn’t actually meet on the bus, but we did—”
Emer said, “We were a comedy show,” and Rick added, “Yeah, our mutual friend did stand-up.”

The actress said: “I sort of knew he knew my friend and I was there to meet my friend with one of the comedians… And I was on my own. They were kind of, you know, and Rick came in and I’d never met him before, but I have no idea why I did this. But I, uh, just went like this. A peace sign.’
Rick joked, “Put a ring on it!”
Emer said, “And he just walked across the room to me and sat down next to me. He said, hello, who are you? And I was like, oh, oh, oh, yeah. Uh, you know, uh, blah, blah.
“The bus thing comes in, that after that night my friend was gone on the way home with the person I had them meet with some kind of pillow on the corner of the street… And we were left at the bus stop. Um, Rick was reading his emails.’
Rick jokingly told the hosts, “Busy. I’m busy man, lots of things to get through. Listen, I know how to charm a lady. You have to show them that you are important.’
Emer hit back by saying, “You have to show them you’re important.” Because I said to my boyfriend afterwards, I was like, He hates me. Or he really likes me. And so when I got home, I saw my phone, Rick Edwards followed you on Twitter, I was like, okay, he was reading his emails, but it was, it was… obsessed!”
Rick continued, “But then we were at a bowling party, I think. We were on the same bus home,” with Emer adding, “There are a lot of buses in our relationship.”
“Yeah, and we were kind of approaching my stop and I gave you what I think it is a very romantic ultimatum, which is that you can get off and kiss me or stay on the bus,” Rick said.
Emer told listeners, “So I got off the bus and kissed him. Yeah, I got in the next one and I told my friend when I got home what you said, and he said, oh, you’re being played…”
Rick yelled, “In nine years he’ll have a baby from you!”
Emer said, “And then six… No. And six weeks later we got engaged. At that bus stop.’
Rick added, “Yeah. It was weird when we stood there waiting because you thought…why are we here? What are we doing? And a bus pulled up and I was like, I’m gonna wait for them to leave’
Emer said, “And then he got down on one knee.”

Swirling Romance: Emer explained six weeks after meeting that they got engaged at a bus stop
The couple recently took to social media to announce the happy news of welcoming their first child and sharing the first photos of their newborn.
Emer wrote, ‘Bit of news… @rickedwards1 & I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. He’s just magical.’
In an instant, Rick could be seen beaming at his son with a look of pure joy on his face.
A second photo showed Emer kissing her baby’s face as she sat up in bed.
The couple kept their pregnancy a secret on social media until now.
Along with the new photos, Emer shared a video of Rick talking about the news on Radio Five Live.
He said, “I haven’t been out filming an exciting new TV show. In fact, Emer and I just had our first baby.
‘He’s a beautiful boy. He is great. I may be biased but this guy is fantastic, hungry and fabulous and the three of us just hang out and get to know each other.
Emer also shared some photos of herself pregnant with her baby while updating her followers on her happy motherhood journey.
Rick and Emer tied the knot in a romantic ceremony at London’s Kew Gardens in 2016.
The Safe Word host and EastEnders star, who played Zsa Zsa Carter, got married in front of friends and family.
Emer said at the time that there was no time to enjoy a real honeymoon as she was right back to work.
The actress snapped a selfie of herself in her dressing room next to her new husband and wryly captioned the selfie, “Bring your husband to work. (Who needs a honeymoon?)’
The couple had been dating for five years before getting married, but got engaged just six weeks after they met.
They have kept their relationship relatively private.
But they spoke about their love this weekend in The Sunday Times magazine.
Emer said she was a late teen when Rick hosted T4 and always had a fondness for his co-star Steve Jones, which he still teases her about.
They met on a 2013 Jessie Cave show — who is a mutual friend — when she instinctively made a peace sign to him and he sat down with her.
He took her out for birthday lunch and then they had their first kiss and got engaged six weeks later.
She said, “It just felt right to say yes and nine years later I think it was a good impulse decision.”
Adding: “I was boy crazy through my teens and early twenties, and often heartbroken, but when I met Rick I was so calm. I felt more myself with him than I’d ever felt before.”

Emer added that Rick finds it difficult when she has to film a love scene and would rather not know when it will happen.
Rick added that singer Jessie had previously told him that Emer would be perfect for him, but he had a girlfriend at the time, so he didn’t act on it.
He said, “From the outside, getting engaged after six weeks seems insane, but I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her… Everything I do is amplified by Emer’s presence.”
He said that Emer will be a great mother and he knew they had something special between them because he cares more about her success than his own success.
