Bettors think it would be surprising if Manchester City doesn’t win the English Premier League title, but there is still a way to get decent value for a Man City championship.
City is -1600 at BetMGM to win a fourth consecutive title on Sunday. Manchester City would be the first team in Premier League history to win four consecutive titles and are currently the first team since Manchester United in 2006, 2007 and 2008 to win three consecutive titles.
Man City moved closer to the 2024 title on Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over Tottenham. The victory put City two points ahead of Arsenal ahead of the final day of matches on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are +900 to win the title even though the title scenario is a pretty easy one, even if it seems unlikely. Arsenal host Everton on Sunday and City host West Ham. If Arsenal beat Everton and Manchester City draw West Ham, the two teams would be tied on 89 points and Arsenal would win the league title thanks to a superior goal difference. If Arsenal win and City lose, Arsenal win the league outright.
The odds of City losing to West Ham are extremely low. But if you’re looking to cash in on a Manchester City title, you need to take the odds of the game and not the league title. Manchester City is -900 to beat West Ham. Sure, by betting on that scenario you won’t be rewarded if both teams lose somehow on Sunday, but the chances of that happening are extremely slim.
A draw between West Ham and City is at +950, while West Ham is at +1900 to spring the upset and throw the league title race into chaos.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are -550 to beat Everton. The Toffees are +1300 to win and a draw is +650.
There isn’t much at stake on Sunday outside of the title race. Aston Villa secured fourth place and a place in the Champions League with defeat by Tottenham on Tuesday. Villa are five points ahead of Spurs. The three relegated teams have also been decided before the last week of the season. Sheffield United are last with 16 points. United are eight points behind Burnley in 19th place and 10 points behind Luton Town.
Luton Town are three points behind Nottingham Forest in 17th place and could draw level with Forest on points with a win over Fulham and a Forest loss to Burnley. However, Forest are 12 goals ahead on goal difference; that is too wide a chasm for Luton Town to overcome.
