Pregnant Woman Vanishes from Hawaii Army Base as Husband Is Taken into Custody in Mysterious Case

In late July, a pregnant young Hawaiian woman mysteriously disappeared and now her husband, a US Army soldier, has been taken into military custody in connection with her case. The disappearance of 19-year-old Mischa Johnson has left her family and community in shock, as authorities continue to search for answers.

Mischa, who was six months pregnant, was last seen the evening of July 31 at her home on Schofield Barracks on O’ahu. She was reported missing the next day, according to the Army Criminal Investigation Department. Her sudden disappearance has sparked a wide-ranging investigation, drawing attention both within and outside the military community.

In a significant development, on Monday, August 19, the 25th Infantry Division issued a statement confirming that “an individual has been taken into military custody in the case of missing person Mischa Johnson.” The statement identified Mischa’s husband, Private First Class Dewayne Arthur Johnson II, as the individual currently in military custody in Hawaii.

While it is unclear whether Dewayne Johnson has been formally charged under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the seriousness of the situation has many concerned. The Army Criminal Investigation Division is offering a $10,000 reward for any information that might lead to Mischa’s whereabouts.

Mischa Johnson is described as 5’6″ tall, 170 lbs., and of Filipino descent. She has a large, distinctive tattoo of a dragon on her back, which could help identify her. Her husband, Dewayne Johnson, originally from Frederick, Maryland, enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 2022 and was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division as a cavalry scout in June 2023.

The military’s focus remains on locating Mischa, supporting his family, and ensuring the safety of personnel at U.S. Army installations in Hawaii. “Our efforts remain focused on locating Mischa, supporting his family, and ensuring the safety of all personnel at U.S. Army installations in Hawaii,” the statement said.

As the investigation continues, the Army has urged anyone with information regarding Mischa’s disappearance to come forward. “We encourage anyone who may have information regarding Mischa Johnson to contact the Pacific Field Office at 808-208-0059.” As the investigation continues, Mischa’s loved ones and the community eagerly await any updates that may bring clarity to this disturbing case.
