A Pilates instructor nine months pregnant with her first child has made a desperate appeal to find her mother after she mysteriously disappeared abroad.

Perth-based American expat April Grillo should prepare to celebrate the happiest moment of her life as she counts down the days to the birth of her son.

Instead, she has spent the past few weeks sick with worry, hoping that her mother Cynthia Maria Hoover will be found safely on the other side of the world.

Mrs. Hoover, 60, was last seen on March 8 at 2:30 p.m. in Milton, northwest Florida, before concerned family members reported her missing seven days later after being unable to contact her.

Her car was found abandoned two days later heading west on Interstate 10, near Ward Basin in Milton, and investigators were unable to determine if she was with anyone or where she was going.

‘My family has been looking for her days. No one seems to know anything, ” Grillo wrote in a social media appeal for help.

‘I am trying to navigate through this extremely difficult time [has been] a learning curve I hope you never have to experience it.

“We just want her to get home safely. Please keep my family in your mind. And please let me know if you know anything. I would be so grateful to you. ‘

Ms. Grillo said it was extremely unusual for her mother to go on for so long without contacting her or other family members and for her phone to go straight to voicemail.

Santa Rosa researchers are urging the public to provide any information that can help locate the beloved mother, saying she may be in danger due to a possible medical condition.

“The police are in the process of searching bank / phone information, retrieving the camera images from the highway and following up on the tips that have come in,” Ms. Grillo said.

“Meanwhile, KlassKids and Geaux Rescue are helping with local searches and friends have made flyers and I know they have been posted all over town.”

A billboard with a picture of Ms. Hoover has been posted in Santa Rosa County, hoping it will attract new leads.

According to local media reports, the car appeared to have been looted when it was found along the highway near milestone 25.

Ms. Hoover was last seen by family at an address on Lakeside Drive on March 8 before taking off to pay a bill six minutes’ drive away, but it remains unclear whether or not she arrived.

Her jeep was towed away two days later, on March 10, after she was located along the road, but investigators are still trying to figure out how long it has been there.

Search teams searched 70 miles around the area where her car was found, nearby woods, and by boat along Blackwater River two weeks ago, but couldn’t find a trace of Mrs. Hoover.

Around the same time that Ms. Hoover disappeared, Ms. Grillo celebrated her baby shower for her infant son, expected in April, with friends in Western Australia.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, she has been separated from her family in the United States, making the upcoming birth of her child all the more difficult.

‘When you have our first bub so far from home, you can sometimes get extra homesick. Our friends have shown every step of this journey, showing us what an amazing village we have, ‘she wrote alongside a photo from the baby shower.

Now the distance has grown even further as she searches for her mother.

“It’s unbearable not to be at home with my family right now,” Ms. Grillo wrote in a later message.

“I know many of you are concerned that my stress level is nearly nine months pregnant. Mentally I’m a mess, but stay calm as I can. We had a regular check-up last week and we are both physically healthy.

[My husband] Mike is great and makes sure we stay that way. Our friends here in Australia have made me feel their support so far from home. ‘

Mrs. Hoover is described as having brown hair, blue eyes, is 5’5 “(160 cm) tall and weighs approximately 230 pounds (100 kg).

A Facebook page is designed for those who want to get involved in the search efforts.
