Jessie James Decker talks about her sister Sydney’s recent ordeal with United Airlines.
The 35-year-old country singer took to her Instagram Stories with a long text message criticizing the airline on Sunday.
She was reacting after Anthony Bass, the brother-in-law of Toronto Blue Jays quarterback Sydney Ray Bass, complained on social media Sunday that United forced his pregnant wife to get on her hands and knees to clean up stray popcorn dropped by their daughter. .
The complaint sparked a huge controversy on social media, pitting those who thought it was rude to expect service workers to clean up after themselves against others who claimed service workers were paid to take care of that mess.
“My sister @sydneyraebass just texted me from her trip @united,” Jessie wrote in a post that has since vanished. “As you know, she’s five months pregnant, her risk is high, and she’s traveling alone with her two young children.”

“Blair accidentally spilled some popcorn in the plain lane,” Decker wrote.
Sister Sydney and Anthony share a daughter, Brooklyn, who is five, and the couple also adopted a little girl, Blair, in 2020. It was Blair who allegedly dropped some of her popcorn.
Jessie alleged: “The stewardess came to Sydney with a rubbish bag and a wet handkerchief, and told her the captain wanted Master to clean up every drop.”
She wrote that her sister had to get on her hands and knees, and said the humiliation of the event left her in tears.
“Well done to the union,” she added sarcastically.
Jessie added her support for her sister Sydney and her family with a follow-up post to her Insta Stories, which showed her tearing her head against little Blair.
“I grabbed my sister and the popcorn menace,” she joked. “Yes, that’s what the flight attendant said to my sister, popcorn in the aisle is a safety hazard.”
A later post featured a video of Jessie asking her sister where Blair’s spilled popcorn came from.
“I think all the time that popcorn is something Sid just picked up (at the airport),” she said off camera, while Sydney confirmed it was an in-flight snack provided by the crew.
“If popcorn is dangerous, why are they giving it out on planes?” she asked.
