A pregnant prison guard accused of having an intimate relationship with an inmate and smuggling illicit drugs into a correctional facility has gone out in public for the first time since appearing in court.
Amber Clavell, 25, allegedly had a relationship with armed robber Mark Kennedy, 27, at the Geoffrey Pearce Correctional Centre, near Windsor, in Sydney’s northwest, between January and April.
On Thursday, the mother of two could do little to hide her growing baby bump under her Everlast tracksuit set as she left her home.
Clavell, who is suspended from her job without pay, looked dejected as she left her modest, unkempt property in Sydney’s western suburbs, her front yard littered with children’s toys.
She was also seen carrying empty pet food cans to the recycling bin.

Amber Clavell, 25, allegedly had an intimate relationship with convicted armed robber Mark Kennedy.
The mother, who is out on bail, had her blonde hair up in a bun and wore thongs as she picked up her young children from daycare before visiting friends in the evening.
Clavell, who began work as a uniformed officer at the Geoffrey Pearce Correctional Center in 2022, faced Penrith Local Court on Wednesday, where she pleaded no contest to the charges.
Court documents allege that Clavell snuck 33 grams of methamphetamine to give to Kennedy, which he hid in two balloons “on his body” along with a bag of tobacco.
It is also alleged in court documents that Clavell abused his access to internal corrective services systems to verify his prison lover’s contact with his wife via the jail phone and seek other information.
The investigation into Clavell led to his colleague and close companion Jessica Jade Elguindy, also 25, being charged with an alleged relationship with another inmate at the same prison.
The couple are reportedly best friends and have matching tattoos.
Elguindy, married and mother of two, was charged with entering into a relationship with an inmate, causing a security risk, accessing or modifying restricted computer data and misconduct as a public office holder.

The investigation into Clavell led to her colleague and friend Jessica Elguindy (pictured) being accused of an alleged relationship with another inmate at the same prison.
Elguindy is an administrative assistant with Corrective Services NSW and, according to an online profile, has been employed by the department for the past six years.
He is also out on bail and is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on May 29.
His father, Walid ‘Wally’ Elguindy, has worked in the prison system for 30 years and is director general of strategic population management.
The racing official recently told Daily Mail Australia that he was not in a position to comment on his daughter’s circumstances, but is said to be very distressed by the couple’s actions.
“I have nothing to say at this time in relation to that,” Mr Elguindy said. “It’s a difficult time and there’s nothing I can say right now.”
Detectives from the New South Wales Police Corrective Services Investigation Unit began an investigation into Elguindy in January.
Investigators had received reports of an allegedly inappropriate relationship between Elguindy and an inmate at the facility.
Amber Clavell (pictured Thursday) will reappear in court in June
Clavell was arrested in jail on April 23, taken to Penrith police station and granted bail after being charged with five criminal charges.
She has also been charged with two counts of accessing or modifying restricted data, placing prohibited drugs in place of drug care and supply.
His future in correctional services will depend on the outcome of his court cases.
Clavell appeared at Penrith Local Court on Wednesday, hiding his face and refusing to answer questions from the media when he arrived.
Police allege that Clavell “seriously endangered the good order and security” of the prison by having knowledge of “multiple crimes committed by inmates and other staff.”
Clavell will return to court on June 4.
