Pregnant influencer Emily Mitchell died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism, her family has revealed, after she ‘did not respond’ over breakfast at her Rhode Island home three days before Christmas.
The mother of four was believed to be about 16 weeks pregnant with her fifth child when she died; her unborn baby also died as a result of her condition.
Emily’s husband Joe shared an update on his late wife’s cause of death on the family GoFundMe page this week, which explained that the state office of medical examinations had confirmed that a pulmonary embolism – a blockage in the pulmonary artery of the lungs – was the cause of death.

In the post, Joe – who had four children with Emily: Finn, Isla, Edie and Lulu – opened up about the family’s heartbreak over the loss and admitted that it was’ challenging ‘for them to’ get their heads around the loved one to hit’. sudden death of mother on December 22.
“A few days ago, we heard from the State Medical Examiners Office that the official cause of death was a pulmonary embolism,” he wrote.
“While it is challenging to understand how this could have happened, we know that all first responders and medical personnel did everything they could to help, so we are sure it was just her time; the Lord called her home. ‘
He added: ‘The kids and I are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support following the sudden passing of our beloved Emily and baby Joey. Words cannot describe how meaningful your words, gestures, expressions, and encouragements have been to us. ‘
The blogger, who lived in Rhode Island, had 107,000 followers on her The Hidden Way Instagram page, where she doubled her faith and family life with her four children. She announced that she was expecting her fifth child in November.
Emily’s husband explained how the family’s faith has helped them deal with their grief, writing, “ We miss Mom so much, but we also have peace and joy as believers, knowing that they really are in a better place. in the presence of her Savior, having trusted Jesus from an early age. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). ‘

The update on Emily’s death comes two weeks after the family first shared the news of her passing in a heartbreaking statement in which Joe recalled how his wife “ suddenly became unresponsive ” while drinking coffee and toast in the morning.

She has had a profound impact in the lives of so many people, and this loss is incomprehensible to anyone who knew her. Our friend was a devoted mother and wife, she had a heart for the Lord and loved her children so much.
“Emily has left behind her loving husband Joe and four beautiful children, Finn, Isla, Edie and Lulu.”
It continued, “We are deeply saddened by her passing and as a community we want to express our love for her family through this fundraiser. This money will go towards raising her children next year, as well as the many expenses Joe and the kids will face as they adjust to life without Emily.
We appreciate everyone’s concerns about her sudden death and want to thank you all for the love you have expressed in the form of messages, phone calls and letters. Your words have not gone unnoticed and her family is very grateful to you for your support during this devastating time.
She was drinking her morning coffee and toast when suddenly she stopped responding. Despite the immediate attention of her children, husband, father, and other medical personnel, all courageous attempts at resuscitation were unsuccessful.

The social media star took to Instagram in November to share that she and Joe were expecting their fifth child together, as she revealed their nervousness about the prospect of a new baby.
Her message was, ‘YOU BOYS. NUMBER FIVE. Who Guessed the Secret? !!! You’ve probably noticed I’ve been a little MIA..welp this is the reason lol. Number FIVE is coming in the thick of it and we are here for 11 weeks, 2 days and counting [sic]. ‘
And, earlier this month, Emily shared with followers, she would undergo her fifth Caesarean section.
She wrote: ‘This will be my FIFTH C-section. However your baby gets here, just know that YOUR EXPERIENCE is valid and worthy.
“YOU are no less of a mother if you needed urgent medical intervention, had a scheduled caesarean section, or had an epidural.
You are not a ‘better’ mother if you have had a home birth or a vaginal delivery without medication.
What if you’ve grown your offspring through adoption or surrogacy or family union? They are YOUR babies and YOU ARE PROUDLY at the table of motherhood. ”
