A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale has turned the southwestern tip of Western Australia upside down and shook homes in the region violently.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the quakes at 10.07 hours local time 63km southwest of the city of Kojonup at 10 kilometers below the surface.

There is no tsunami threat to Australia due to the earthquake, although according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

The quake comes after the same part of the state was hit by more than 12 earthquakes within 24 hours, varying from 0.3 to 4.7 in size on 13 October.
