A Queensland grandmother has won a $10 million prize in last night’s Powerball draw.
The Mackay woman had the only division one winning entry nationwide in Powerball draw 1469 held on Thursday.
It took the winning woman a little longer to discover her new fortune after missing multiple calls from The Lott early on Friday morning.
“Oh my God, I’m shaking,” she said, “I can’t believe it, I don’t know what to say.”
‘I saw the missed calls when I woke up this morning, but I thought it was a scam, so I decided to leave it.
“It wasn’t until I heard your voicemail that I knew it wasn’t a scam and something was going on.”
She said the winnings would help her pay off her mortgage, pay bills and buy a new car.
“I would love to buy a Honda or Toyota with a front bumper because we really need one in the area where we live. I will also start to slowly reduce my work hours and eventually retire.

‘It will give me more time to spend with my grandchildren.
“I almost didn’t buy the ticket because I was in a hurry to get to work, but I’m so glad I did.”
The winning numbers were 17, 20, 9, 12, 19, 22 and 16. The Powerball number was 9.
Of the 20 winning Powerball division one tickets in 2023, eight fell in New South Wales, seven in Victoria, two each in South Australia and Western Australia, and one in Queensland.
