Millions of Australians are scrambling to find their tickets in the hope of scooping a life-changing windfall after Thursday night’s $100 million Powerball draw.
The jackpot has skyrocketed, with one lucky participant taking home $100 million.
The jackpot was the third-largest prize this year and the sixth-largest in Australian lottery history.
The winning numbers for Powerball 1475 are 16, 24, 11, 4, 10, 18 and 23. The Powerball was 6.
Up to half of Australia’s adult population was expected to buy a ticket for Thursday night’s draw.
“If just one person takes home the full $100 million prize on Thursday night, they will not only receive a substantial boost to their bank account but will also share the crown of Australia’s third-biggest lottery winner in history,” Lott spokesman Matt Hart said.
One in two Australian adults was expected to buy a ticket for Thursday night’s Powerball draw.
“Only five Australians have ever known what it’s like to win a lottery prize of $100 million or more, but we may increase that number on Thursday night.
The last six-figure jackpot was in May, when an Adelaide man became the biggest lottery winner in Australian history after a $150 million windfall.
Eleven Powerball Division 1 winners have pocketed more than $492 million so far this year, with five wins in New South Wales ($210 million), four in Queensland ($120 million) and one each in South Australia ($150 million) and Victoria ($12 million).
More than half of the winning tickets were QuickPicks and almost half were PowerHit tickets, which is a Powerball ticket that guarantees the Powerball number needed to win division one.
