Porto’s Iranian star Mehdi Taremi has won the official Champions League goal of the season for the 2020-21 season.
The 28-year-old showed stunning technique by plucking the ball out of the air in the closing moments of the second leg quarter-final against eventual champions Chelsea, and hammering it into the top corner with an acrobatic finish.
Taremi’s winning attempt was confirmed by UEFA on Friday, when the footballing body uploaded images of the strike to their official website and social media channels.

Fans around the world were asked to vote for their favorite strike of the competition.
UEFA’s technical observers selected their top ten goals of the season shortly after the final, which saw Chelsea beat English rivals Manchester City.
The top goalscorer shortlist then went to a fan decision on Monday, May 31, with Taremi receiving more than 750,000 votes.

UEFA has revealed that a total of nearly 1.3 million votes have been cast.
