Staff at a Portland high school “stared” as a student savagely beat a younger girl more than 80 times in less than a minute, a $2 million lawsuit filed by the victim’s mother claims.

Lannette Kali filed the lawsuit against Portland Public Schools on behalf of her 15-year-old daughter, Dania Kali, who was brutally beaten by an unidentified older student at Roosevelt High School in February.

Her helpless daughter was punched, kicked, slapped and grabbed in the school hallway, leaving her with a concussion, two black eyes, headaches, a swollen nose, nausea and vision problems, all while staff members watched, ” without wanting to intervene.” says the lawsuit, obtained by DailyMail.com.

The legal filing alleges that Dania was attacked by the older man because he did not like his expression when he passed by.

The horrified mother is suing the school district for “incompetence and apathy” as her daughter is still trying to recover from the beating, the family’s attorney, Jacob Johnstun, told the outlet.

The altercation began after the senior asked Dania why she was “looking askance” at her, and although the teen tried to explain that she meant no harm, “the other student brutally attacked her,” according to the report. presentation.

“Without provocation, the other student threw Dania to the ground, where Dania was kicked, punched, grabbed, and slapped,” the lawsuit details, adding that her hair “was also violently torn out.”

While she was attacked, Dania did not stand up or protect her face from the blow “because her backpack restricted her movement,” according to the lawsuit.

After her daughter was attacked, Lannette shared a video of the incident, posted to Snapchat by another student, titled “Just another normal day at velt.”

Although Snapchat deletes videos after 24 hours, Lannette recorded the clip on his cell phone as evidence of the fight.

Johnstun said the lawsuit will allow the teen’s family to obtain a copy of school surveillance video of the beating from multiple angles.

According to the lawsuit, the fierce fight ended when “a school employee finally entered the scene and removed Dania’s attacker.”

Dania was not offered medical care until Lannette arrived at school, and then she was taken to an urgent care center to be examined, the lawsuit, filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court, alleges.

After the attack, Dania’s mother attempted to contact the school, but “was rebuffed when she attempted to obtain minimal information from the school so she could better protect her daughter in the future,” according to the lawsuit.

In April, two months after the incident, Lannette said Oregon live that school officials refused to give him the name of the other student.

The school also told the worried mother that her daughter did not know her attacker and was caught off guard.

Valerie Feder, Director of Media Relations for the school district, previously told the outlet that it does not release the names of students who allegedly assault or bully others.

Months after the attack, Dania still suffers from her injuries, the lawsuit alleges.

He had to miss nine days of school and was unable to read or write for long periods of time, according to the lawsuit.

The filing also claims that the school did not adequately accommodate Dania once she returned, failing most of her classes and forcing her to attend summer school for four weeks.

The teen was recently told she needed to attend a year of therapy at a head injury clinic to help with her dizziness and balance problems as a result of the attack, Johnstun said.
