A moving Sunrise segment starring journalist Nathan Templeton has resurfaced following his shocking death aged 44.
The Channel Seven reporter was found near the Barwon River on Monday night and friends were told he had suffered a fatal “medical episode”.
In the 2017 segment, Templeton and the Sunrise team worked closely with event organizers to arrange for terminally ill teenager Bryce McKiernan to meet his idol, professional wrestler John Cena.
Bryce, who was 15 at the time and had endured a lifelong battle with Kabuki syndrome, broke down in tears when Templeton broke the news that he and his family were traveling to Melbourne to meet the WWE superstar. .
‘You and mom will come to Melbourne with me and meet John Cena. Sound good, buddy?’ he told the teenager.

Speaking with former Sunrise co-hosts Samantha Armytage and David Koch, Templeton recalled the special moment for the little boy.
“I’m very happy to say that everything went exactly as we all expected. John Cena was just fantastic and Bryce had the time of his life,” he said during their live crossover.
“It was a real privilege for us to be there and be a small part of it,” Templeton added, before thanking John and the organisers.
‘But most importantly, thank you to the McKiernan family for allowing us to be a small part of Bryce’s story. We wish all the best to that beautiful family.”

Bryce tragically died in August 2017, a month after meeting the wrestler.
Meanwhile, Templeton’s death has shocked his co-workers at the Seven Network.
He had worked for the network for more than 12 years and was the Melbourne correspondent for its morning talk show Sunrise.

He leaves behind two small children.
Templeton said he was excited to be a part of the special moment for the boy.

Templeton studied at Deakin University in Geelong, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in journalism.
He was part of the Olympic Sevens broadcast team in Tokyo and Rio and the 2018 Commonwealth Games, as well as the Australian Open and Australian Swimming Championships.
Before joining Seven, he was a sports reporter at Ten News Melbourne.
The experienced broadcaster also worked for the Geelong Football Club as a home match announcer at GMHBA Stadium.
