A man whose body was found in the water near a boat ramp in South Australia has been remembered as a “nice guy” who would help anyone.
Simon Harris, 50, was found unconscious in the water at Solomontown in Port Piriein 6 am on Saturday.
Mr Harris was pronounced dead at the scene, with CCTV footage from a nearby business showing him alive just 30 minutes earlier.
His partner, who asked not to be identified, said she had been with him the night before and that he “seemed fine” at the time.
“He’s a good guy, he helps anyone, yes, if you were depressed, he would help you, he would make you laugh, he cared about everyone,” the woman said. he told Nine News.
“He was a down-to-earth person. He and his family will miss him.”
South African police said the death was not being treated as suspicious at this stage of the investigation, but a coroner would need to determine the cause.
It is unclear how Mr Harris ended up in the water.

Officers took photographs of a bicycle near the boat ramp which Mr Harris is believed to have been riding before his death.
The area was briefly cordoned off to the public on Saturday as detectives searched the scene and divers searched the water, but was reopened mid-afternoon.
