Popular Australian designer Michael Lo Sordo reportedly owes ‘tens of thousands’ of dollars in unpaid bills for his Australian Fashion Week show.

The luxury fashion guru owes the large sum to the suppliers who helped him execute his successful Resort 2025 show, according to The Telegraph newspaper.

The catwalk was also stated to be due to take place at the Sydney Opera House, but had to be moved to Machine Hall after the deposit was not paid on time.

A source close to him said: “He is incredibly talented, but many people can’t understand why he works so hard to the point where he can’t pay his bills.”

“The industry is small. You can’t avoid not paying what you owe to people who usually work very hard.”

Lo Sordo told the Telegraph: “We had a fantastic fashion week and we are incredibly grateful to all our partners for that success, and we are currently addressing outstanding payments associated with the event.”

Lo Sordo had previously been in the spotlight for late payments of invoices to cutting service companies, fabric suppliers, pattern makers and accounting firms.

In 2015, Chic Management reportedly won a civil case against the brand after failing to pay models who worked on the 2014 Lo Sordo Fashion Week show.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Lo Sordo for comment.

The luxury show was inspired by the Maxims era as well as two popular Parisian nightspots: cabaret club Le Boeuf sur le Toit and gay nightclub Le Sept.

“I thought a lot about how we would top the success of last year’s 10th anniversary show,” Lo Sordo said. Funny of the show at the time.

‘So we decided to continue the celebration and treat this year’s show as the after-party!

‘Michael Lo Sordo’s client loves to party and we always celebrate in our signature glamorous style.’

Lo Sordo is often seen socialising with his group of high-profile friends, including PE Nation co-founder Pip Edwards.

Last month, Lo Sordo attended an Australian influencer retreat at the luxurious Osborn House in Victoria’s Southern Highlands, which was hosted by Pip.
