Australian couple Cameron Burgess and Massimo Luongo are set to rub shoulders with one of the world’s biggest music stars after Ed Sheeran bought a share in English Premier League club Ipswich Town.
Having helped Ipswich secure promotion last season, defender Burgess and midfielder Luongo are set to make their EPL debuts on Saturday night (AEST) when the Tractor Boys open their campaign at home against Liverpool.
Among the crowd at Portman Road is expected to be lifelong Ipswich fan Sheeran, who has bought a 1.4 per cent stake in the Suffolk-based club.

Former Socceroos star Massimo Luongo plays for Ipswich Town and will be able to rub shoulders with the pop icon.
Sheeran has been a supporter of Ipswich Town since he was a child.
“I’m really excited to have bought a small percentage of my hometown football club,” Sheeran told Ipswich Town’s website.
‘The dream of every football fan is to own the club they support, and I am very grateful for this opportunity.
‘I have lived in Suffolk since I was three years old and although I travel the world and sometimes feel like an outsider in big cities, Suffolk and Ipswich have always made me feel part of the community and protected.
Australian Cameron Burgess, pictured battling with England’s Ollie Watkins, is also a member of the Ipswich Town squad.
“It’s a joy to be an Ipswich Town supporter. There are ups and downs, but football is about embracing the ups and downs,” continued Sheeran.
‘I’m not a voting shareholder or a board member, I’m simply putting some money into the club I love and they’re returning the gesture, so please don’t pressure me with suggestions for signings or playing tactics.
“I’m excited for the start of the Premier League this weekend.”

Ipswich warmed up for the Reds’ visit with a 1-0 pre-season win over French club Nice last weekend.
