Australian pop star Cody Simpson was mysteriously absent from his heat at the Australian Swimming Championships on Friday.
The 24-year-old, who recently dived back into the sport after choosing to focus on his music career, would compete in the 100m butterfly.
Simpson has been training on the Gold Coast since returning from the United States with his American model girlfriend Marloes Stevens.
The couple recently completed 14 days of mandatory hotel quarantine at the Howard Springs facility in the Northern Territory.

On Thursday, he was pictured next to Australian Olympic great Ian Thorpe on the pool deck – and the pair seemed to be sharing a joke.
Simpson is still listed as a competitor in the 50m butterfly event on Saturday.
The singer was able to bid to participate in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo after swimming two seconds below the qualifying time of 56.87 seconds in the 100m butterfly.
He plans to participate in an event in Adelaide in June that will put the finishing touches to the Olympic squad for Japan.
The Gold Coast event is not a requirement for Olympic selection – with other big names such as Mack Horton and Kyle Chalmers also withdrawing from their events.
However, Ariarne Titmus, Emma McKeon and Mitch Larkin took part in their events, with the latter recording a blistering 1:53:38 for the 200-meter backstroke.

Simpson and Ms. Stevens, 28, were photographed earlier this month during a break from their training.
The happy couple walked hand in hand to a coffee shop on Mermaid Beach, Queensland.
He also spent much of their time together snapping photos of the glamorous Marloes, no doubt because of her Instagram account.
Earlier this year, Cody revealed to The New York Times what inspired him to jump back into the pool and compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He explained that he decided he still had a shot in the pool after seeing American swimmer Caeleb Dressel – who is five months younger than him – beat a record set by Michael Phelps in 2019.
“I stopped drinking that night and started looking for pools the next day,” said Cody, a Gold Coast native.
Despite an incredibly successful music career that discovered him on YouTube and was signed to an American record label in 2010 at the age of 13, his childhood Olympic dreams were bigger.
“I love the music industry very much, and I will be a musician well into my life, but it’s not as purely an occupation as sport, which just comes on the clock,” he told The New York Times. .
