Aaron Carter’s official cause of death revealed as drowning: Autopsy shows singer became “incapacitated” and “slipped underwater in bathtub” after taking Xanax and “HUFFING”
Singer Aaron Carter’s autopsy revealed that he drowned in his bathtub after taking Xanax and bingeing before he died at the age of 34 last year at his home in Lancaster, California.
Carter’s autopsy results show that he consumed alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax, and inhaled compressed difluoroethanes, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, TMZ reported tuesday.
Carter inhaled compressed difluoroethane, a propellant used in cans of compressed air, a practice known as “puffing”.
Officials said Carter was “incapacitated while in the bathtub due to the effects” of the substances.
Carter’s body was found at his home on November 5, 2022. Authorities said in the report that the artist, under the influence of the substances, ‘slipped underwater’ and drowned.

In January, coroner officials ruled out drowning as the primary cause of his death. TMZ reported, as the medical examiners did not detect any water in his lungs.
Melanie Martin, who was Carter’s fiancée and shared a child with him, told the outlet that the release of the autopsy did not lead to closure.
“He claims the death was from drowning, but also adds that he was wearing a shirt and necklace in the bathtub which doesn’t make sense, so why would he be in the bathtub wearing clothes?” Martin said. I’m still in shock and I still miss Aaron everyday. I don’t understand the sequence of events and this report only made us ask more questions.
