Polyamorous parents who have been together for ten years invite a dance teacher to live in their house
A couple who have been together for ten years and have been married for nine of those years and have two children has revealed how they opened their home to another duo.
Matt and Carmen from Nashville, Tennessee, who share a six-year-old and a three-year-old, appear to have a conventional-looking family lineup, but had often talked about opening up their marriage.
When they started swing dance classes, they immediately clicked with their teachers, Brooklyn and Keith, and after discussing the topic of an open relationship with the couple, the foursome, which has been dating as a quad for eight months, now lived together .

One summer evening, while enjoying a drink around their pool, a conversation came about about how to form relationships and the fact that Brooklyn and Matt and Keith and Carmen were attracted to each other.
“Matt and I started swing dancing last year, and Brooklyn and Keith are pretty much the best people in Nashville for doing that,” Carmen recalled from the couples’ first meeting, explaining that she and Matt of an open relationship when they met Brooklyn and Keith.
“We all hung out a few times, [and] it was quite fast and very organic, ”she added.
After taking it to the next level, Brooklyn and Keith officially moved in a few months after they all started dating.
The foursome divided their time between their original relationships, which they called ‘OG’, and the new partnerships, which now describe themselves as a closed heterosexual quad.
“I think the best label we’ve come up with so far is a straight quad,” said Brooklyn. “Or a poly quad, or a double pair relationship.”

The foursome has been together for eight months now and considers itself a ‘heterosexual quad’
Carmen and Matt’s kids view Brooklyn and Keith as ‘godparents who lived with them,’ and the two couples enjoyed hanging out as an extended family of six, as well as double dating.
“Kieran and Ellie know that Brooklyn and Keith are part of the family and we all love them very much,” Carmen said of her children’s response to their parents’ polyamorous relationship.
In addition, we call them their godparents, and that’s all they know.
“There will probably come a time when we would tell them [but] at six and three I don’t think you really understand what a marriage looks like, or a romantic relationship. But in the end, I think we would tell them. ‘
However, the reactions of friends and family to the arrangement have been mixed, with many assuming that the quad is primarily intended for sex.
“People just assume that when you are polyamorous, you like weird things. Whatever you do, people judge you, ‘Carmen told me, revealing that her parents ask her’ all the time ‘if she’s afraid her unconventional relationship is going to’ ruin ‘her kids.
The foursome is also dealing with their own struggles, and they admit that there have been times when they were all jealous of each other, with Brooklyn confessing, “Yes, we often get jealous.”
But they believe that polyamory is the way forward in modern life, and hope their relationship is proof of this.

Carmen says she and Matt faced backlashes from their families when they first opened up about their polyamorous relationship
“I’ve seen a lot of monogamous relationships [where] they just make it work and that’s not something Carmen and I wanted to do, ”Matt said. “We didn’t just want to make it work for 20 years, 30 years.
“We actually wanted to live a loving life.”
Brooklyn agrees, adding that it has become even more difficult to remain monogamous in modern times when there is so much ‘temptation’ on social media.
“It’s hard to be monogamous today,” she said. “There are so many social media channels, lots of temptation if you want.
‘There are pieces in yourself and with other people that do not always fit together perfectly, and [it’s good] to have other people in your life to fill those gaps. ‘
The couples say they each have a different dynamic with each other, making them feel more fulfilled in their daily lives, with Brooklyn and Matt explaining that they have ‘more banter’, while Carmen and Keith tend to do more ‘soul searching work together ‘.
“Each of us can have a role in each other’s lives played by the individuals here, and it’s generally a pretty great family unit,” said Keith.
