Police officers shot and killed a dog that attacked them in Staten Island on Thursday, according to police.
Officers were called to a home on Comstock Ave., near Lenore Court in Graniteville, about 4:25 p.m. about reports of an emotionally disturbed person, police said.
As they entered the residence, a German shepherd pounced on them and attacked them, they added.
The dog bit one of the officers multiple times, leaving him with multiple lacerations.
His partner fired, killing the dog.
Both officers were taken to the University of Richmond Medical Center in stable condition.
The officer who opened fire was treated for tinnitus.
