Former NSW Police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon is charged with two counts of domestic violence-related murder

Multiple charges have been dropped against a former police officer accused of killing Channel 10 presenter Jesse Baird and her boyfriend Luke Davies with his service weapon inside an inner-city Sydney home.

Beau Lamarre-Condon, 29, appeared in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday via AVL from custody facing two counts of murder and domestic violence-related murder and one count of trespassing.

Police allege the former NSW police officer killed the couple inside their Paddington home in February before their bodies were later found in surfboard bags on the Southern Tablelands.

Returning to court, Lamarre-Condon’s attorney, John Walford, said police had certified the former officer’s charges and would drop the murder charges and proceed with two counts of domestic violence-related murder and the trespassing charge.

Magistrate David Covington told the court that general access had also been granted to a password-protected USB drive subpoenaed and that the matter would come back to court in October following a case conference next month.

Asked about the progress of the case outside court, another lawyer representing Lamarre-Condon said he had no comment, including on the USB, before adding “next time,” without elaborating.

Lamarre-Condon was seen on video link wearing a green prison hooded sweater and did not apply for bail.

He spoke only briefly, saying to Mr. Covington, “Thank you, Your Honor.”

Police allege the killings followed a pattern of “predatory” behaviour by Lamarre-Condon, a senior police officer who had been in a brief relationship with Baird months before her death.

A triple-zero call was heard from Mr Davies’ mobile phone four minutes after neighbours heard gunshots at the Paddington home.

Following their arrest, Lamarre-Condon provided information to police that led to the discovery of the couple’s bodies following a widespread search.

He has since been fired from the force.

Lamarra-Condon joined the New South Wales Police Force in 2019 and previously ran a celebrity blog, posing in photos with dozens of celebrities including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles.

The case will return to court on October 8.
