  • Hero police officer Heather Glenn was shot and killed by the suspect while taking a domestic violence call at Perry County Memorial Hospital on Monday.
  • Sean Hubert, 34, resisted officers’ attempts to arrest him and used a firearm to fatally shoot Glenn, authorities said.

Heroic police officer Heather Glenn, who was fatally shot while responding to a domestic violence case at a local hospital, was photographed with her fellow police officer father before she died.

Glenn, 47, responded to an incident in Tell City, southern Indiana early Monday morning, but was shot dead by the suspect.

The Tell City Police Department has released heartbreaking photos of Glenn and his father, retired Sergeant Bob Glenn.

The fatal confrontation occurred at Perry County Memorial Hospital, where Glenn joined officers who responded to the scene when an injured domestic violence victim told hospital staff that Sean Hubert was on his way.

Officers attempted to subdue Hubert, 34, with an electronic device and arrest him, but it was ineffective, Indiana State Police said.

‘During a brief struggle, Hubert drew a firearm and Sgt. Glenn was shot,” state police said.

Adding: “Officers from the Tell City Police Department and the Cannelton Police Department returned fire and shot Hubert.”

The shooting occurred inside the hospital near the emergency room, around 12:50 a.m., Sgt. John Davis told The Associated Press.

“They didn’t know he was armed,” Davis said.

Just before 6:15am, a forensic vehicle and a large police presence, WAFB, were seen leaving the hospital reported.

Glenn and other officers had been searching for Hubert after speaking with the domestic violence victim Sunday, state police said.

Glenn had worked for nearly 20 years with the Tell City Police Department and the Perry County Sheriff’s Office.

“Our police department suffered a tremendous loss,” Police Chief Derrick Lawalin said in a statement.

“We lost a dear colleague, a dear friend. Sergeant Glenn, he’s the cornerstone of our department.

Glenn’s death comes less than a week after the death of another Indiana police officer, Aaron Smith.

Smith was struck by a stolen vehicle Wednesday while trying to place tire deflator sticks on the highway in suburban Indianapolis.

An 18-year-old has been charged with murder.
