Cops launch investigation after reports of ‘shooting’ at North Carolina Community College – where terrified students hide under desks
Police respond to reports of shots being fired at a North Carolina community college.
Officers confirmed that there were reports that Forsyth Tech had been shot, but that there was no active shooter at the scene.
Shots were reportedly fired at the Strickland Center and the students were escorted to a safe area. It is not clear if there were any injuries.
In a statement, the Winston-Salem Police Department said: “At 10:10 a.m., the WSPD received a report of a shooting on the main campus of Forsyth Tech Community College.
Our officers are on site and assisting. Information will be provided as it becomes available.
We can confirm that there is no active shooter on the Forsyth Tech campus. There is still an active investigation on campus.

There are no other threats to any other schools in the area. Anyone with information about this event should call 911 or the non-emergency WSPD at 336-773-7700.
Police closed off several surrounding streets
Students were alerted that shots had been fired, and other schools were forced into hiding.
Forsyth Tech officials said two suspects are armed and remain at large, and are described as men in gray and black berets.
The Stokes County School Superintendent confirmed the presence of Stokes County students on campus at the time.
In a statement they stand by: Although not every detail is available, I can confirm that there were Stokes County Schools students on the Forsyth Tech campus at the time of the shooting. All students are accounted for and are safe.
We do not anticipate a threat to any of our schools in Stokes County at this time; However, we have been in touch with our local law enforcement and will provide extra security for our school this afternoon.
A Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools spokesperson added: Students who were attending events at Forsyth Tech with their school representatives. All WS/FCS students are counted.
We have no injury reports at this time but will keep you posted with more information.
Parents, please do not inform Forsyth Tech as the campus is closed and shelter in place protocol is being followed. Our students will be returned to their local schools as soon as possible.
