Police are searching for a man on Snapchat after filming himself throwing a cat off a quarry ledge in Lancashire

The camera caught a man appearing to throw a cat off a quarry ledge, dropping it hundreds of feet into the water.
Viewers of the Snapchat clip were left horrified after the haunting footage, which was filmed in Carnforth, Lancashire, went viral.
Screenshot video appears to show a young man throwing a black and white cat off the steep ledge of what appears to be an old quarry, while a second young man watches in the background.
As the video ends, the boy walks to the edge of the ledge and watches as the cat plunges into the water below, not appearing to emerge afterward.
Lancashire Police confirmed they are investigating the “act of cruelty” and asked the public for information.
The video was shared on Twitter on Tuesday with the caption “What did I just see on my Snapchat?”.
Captioned with the phrases “disgusting,” the screen recording racked up more than 2,000 likes, quotes, and retweets on the popular social media platform.
Users were quick to share their thoughts in the comments, with many expressing their disgust at the terrible images.
One said: ‘I hope these get named and shamed and get a good kick out of it.’
A second agreed, saying, “I hope someone finds the scruffy little bastard and releases him.”
A third added: “This really deserves jail time.”
A fourth said, ‘No, I’m going to cry.’
The user who shared the post agreed with the horrified comments, saying: ‘How terrible!’
Meanwhile, others theorized that the cat may have been dead before the abusive act, despite others believing it to be alive.

Lancashire Police responded to the tweet, writing: ‘Thank you for dialing. We are aware of and are investigating the incident and where it occurred.
They put out a call for anyone with information to get in touch.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of a video that has been posted on social media which appears to show an act of cruelty towards a cat in the Carnforth area.”
This is a matter that we are investigating, we are establishing the exact circumstances and where it happened.
“Anyone with information should call 101, citing registration 1803 of July 10, 2023.”
