Australians have praised police officers who arrived at a house party following a noise complaint, but decided to stay and join the lively festivities.
In a video posted from the party, an officer was seen trying a traditional Colombian soup made with tripe and seasonal vegetables at the Sydney party.
‘Neighbors called Australian police officers to a Colombian party in Sydney. “When the police arrived, they realized that the Colombians had ‘tripe soup’ and they didn’t hesitate to try it,” the TikTok video was captioned.
Australians were quick to praise the officers for their relaxed approach to policing.
“The importance of community connection is the basis of respect,” said one.
“Those are the best cops we can have on the force,” wrote a second.
“All about being with people.”
“The neighbors would be so upset and I love that the police come into the community and get to know them before they do anything,” said a third.
Police officers initially arrived for a complaint at the home before becoming involved in the festivities.
One Australian recalled police coming to his party to check noise levels years ago.
“When they arrived, more than 50 people were singing Bohemian Rhapsody at the top of their lungs and the police joined in Whatever the Wind Blows,” they said.
“Then they asked us to lower the volume and we did thanks to their excellent singing.”
Some couldn’t believe Sydneysiders were so picky about loud parties.
‘I never report neighbors’ parties. ‘Everyone should be allowed to have fun,’ said one of them.
‘Actually? Did the neighbors complain about that? Whatever happened to people who enjoy enjoying themselves,” a second agreed.
