pokemon go‘s raid system is one of the main gameplay opponents, but now there are even rarer raids that only happen under specific circumstances: Elite raids.
These raids only take place at very specific times and dates and usually feature Pokémon you can’t get anywhere else. So far, only three Pokémon have been confirmed for Elite Raids: Hoopa Untied (which debuted in October 2022), To register (March 2023), ed Rule eki (April 2023).
You know Elite Raids are coming up like raid eggs with huge 24 hour timers starts popping up at the top of the hour. These raids only appear on EX gyms, where EX raids were previously held. (It’s unknown if EX raids will ever return or if they’re a replacement.)
How do I do an Elite Raid?
All you have to do is head to the EX gym shortly after the egg hatches and join the attack as you normally would. You cannot do Elite Raids remotely. You can use Premium Raid Passes or the free orange Raid Passes for this, but not Remote Raid Passes.
The Elite Raid Eggs will hatch at 11am, 2pm and 5pm local time. The attack target lingers for 30 minutes after the egg hatches.
Your best bet is to go to one of your populated locals pokemon go areas (such as a mall, park, etc.) for one of these times and then hopefully jump into a party. You can also use locally pokemon go Discord servers to help coordinate with other players.
How hard is an Elite Raid?
These raids are no harder than regular tier 5 raids (although this largely depends on the target Pokémon), but they do have more HP. They’re not like Primal Reversion raids, which require more people than usual. Expert sources such as LeekDuck have cited that Regidrago can be done by two to five players depending on counters and power levels.
That said, make sure you bring counters and do the work to make things easier for your party members.
