The PlayStation 5 platform concluded its best year in the market, and was able to exceed 38 million units in sales, specifically 38.4 million units sold, after the platform’s sales reached 32.1 million units in the third quarter.
As PlayStation 5 platform sales were revealed in the latest Sony financial earnings reportWhere 6.3 million units were sold in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2022/2023, and this is three times stronger than its sales in the fourth quarter of the previous year, during which it sold only two million units.
The fourth quarter was not the highest in terms of sales of the PlayStation 5 platform, as 7.1 million units were sold in the third quarter. However, this is a fairly regular trend as the third quarter included the holiday season which usually leads to a huge increase in video game console sales.
The increase in overall sales is likely related to the fact that PS5 consoles are now readily available as Jim Ryan said last January that the lack of inventory for PlayStation 5 is basically over.
