Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane returned to north London to score his customary goal against Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final which ended 2-2 on Tuesday.
The former Tottenham Hotspur player, often Arsenal’s enemy in north London derbies, scored a penalty in the 32nd minute as the Bundesliga team came back to lead 2-1.
Premier League leaders Arsenal, playing in their first Champions League quarter-final in 14 years, took an early lead with a clinical goal from Bukayo Saka. But Arsenal were stunned when their former striker Serge Gnabry equalized six minutes later and then Kane scored his 39th goal of the season in all competitions after Leroy Sané was fouled in the area.
Arsenal will travel to Bavaria for next week’s second leg full of hope, although substitute Leandro Trossard equalized in the 76th minute to leave the tie in play.
Mail Sport’s ISAAN KHAN rated the players on Tuesday night.

ARSENAL
DAVID RAYA: 5.5
He was left in no man’s land for Bayern’s first goal after running out of his area. A bad decision. That had a domino effect on his side.
BEN WHITE: 6.5
Well-weighted pass for Bukayo Saka’s goal. He should have scored in the 16th minute in a great one-on-one against Manuel Neuer, but in the 35th minute he made a vital interception.
GUILLERMO SALIBA: 5.5
He committed four fouls in the first half and gave away a penalty. He is much better than this exhibition.
GABRIEL: 5.5
Not to your usual standards. His errant pass gave Bayern the chance to score the first goal. He shook off an elbow to the neck from Harry Kane in the second half.
JAKUB KIWIOR: 5.5
Leroy Sane caused him a lot of problems on that left flank. Substituted at half-time.
Defender Jakub Kiwior was hooked on half-time after being brought down by Leroy Sane.
MARTIN ODEGAARD: 6.5
He controlled much of Arsenal’s play in the first half and started the play for the first goal. Although his influence was stifled in the second period.
JORGINHO: 6
He started strong but started to get outplayed later in the match.
DECLAN RICE: 6.5
He was everywhere in midfield in an energetic display. But he couldn’t grab the game by the throat.
BUKAYO SAKA: 8
Goal well achieved. He also took some smart turns. He often seemed like a threat.
KAI HAVERTZ: 6.5
Set up White with a big opportunity after 16 minutes. He could have been more active at times.
Arsenal defender William Saliba was at fault for Bayern’s penalty and had a night to forget
GABRIEL MARTINELLI: 7
A live wire every time he had the ball in space. One of the Gunners’ main threats. Although I should have received more.
SUBSTITUTES:
OLEKSANDR ZINCHENKO: 7.5
His experience in the Champions League became evident. He added momentum to his team.
GABRIEL JESUS: 7
He attended Leandro Trossard. A solid cameo.
LEANDRO TROSSARD: 7.5
He clinically took advantage of his opportunity to score. What a crucial goal!
Winger Bukayo Saka scored Arsenal’s first goal in the 12th minute and was a constant threat
Responsible: MIKEL ARTETA 6.5
Two of his substitutions combined to score. You will be relieved to save the tie.
Referee: GLENN NYBERG 6
They missed a couple of incidents.
