Playboy pub-baron who attacked his ex-girlfriend after finding a sex tape from him and another

A millionaire-pub-baron who attacked his girlfriend at the time after finding him a sex tape and another woman avoided punishment for violating his conditional conditions thanks to a jungle of Corrective Services.

Phillip De Angelis, 39, the cousin of publicist Arthur Laundy, pleaded guilty to five counts of domestic violence against socialite Nellie Tilley, 53, in 2015 and 2016.

De Angelis promised the judge that he would give up alcohol and drugs for two years.

In March last year, the heir received an intensive correction order and had to test for illegal substances and alcohol.

But in mid-December last year, he was caught drunk driving in Surry Hills in Sydney while using his phone.

Despite the obvious violation of its intensive correction order, Corrective Services did not notify the State Parole Board until 31 January.

The blunder was only brought to the attention of the board The Daily Telegraph asked why De Angelis had got away with the breach.

“Although the correction policy required an infringement report to be submitted shortly after the crime, this did not happen and the employees involved were advised to ensure that this no longer happens,” a spokeswoman said Sunday.

‘Otherwise the perpetrator’s supervision was strictly in accordance with the policy.

“Corrective Services NSW filed an infringement report with the State Parole Authority on Friday 31 January after a 39-year-old offender had not complied with the conditions of his Intensive Corrections Order.”

The Angelis may have gone to prison as a punishment for violating the terms of an intensive correction order.

His incident with drunk driving in December, when he recorded a value of 0.086, is the third time he is caught drunk behind the wheel.

The court released him with a slap on the wrist in 2013 after being accused of delivering cocaine from a small indictment.

His conditions for being fired without conviction were that he did not use drugs and went to rehab.

De Angelis avoided jail time and was sentenced to 18 months in house arrest for his attacks on Mrs. Tilley.

But he appealed against the magistrate’s decision and was only instructed to perform community service only one day a week.

He also didn’t have to use drugs and alcohol until September 2020.

Community corrections said that the baron should remain a free man and instead deal with the case after being convicted in March of driving under the influence and use of his telephone while driving.

The case will come on Monday for the conditional release.

During his trial in 2018, it was revealed by an argument that Mrs. Tilley uncovered a sex tape from DeAngelis and another woman.

In that incident, after dinner at a restaurant in the exclusive suburb of Double Bay, De Angelis accused Mrs. Tilley of being unfaithful before she wanted to see her text messages.

After she rejected her friend’s request, the socialite became “suspicious” and in return took his phone before he locked himself in the bathroom and looked through it.

According to court documents, while she was looking through De Angelis’s phone, she saw a self-made sex tape that showed him sex with another woman.

De Angelis heard the sound of the video being played from the bathroom, and begged Mrs. Tilley to stop looking – before he slammed the door, entered the room, and grabbed the phone from her hand, pushing her forcefully into the process.
