Shania Twain’s return to public life has ignited speculation about her drastically changed face.
The Queen of Country, 59, hosted the People’s Choice Country Awards last month, where she wore a Barbie-inspired denim outfit and donned a blonde wig.
But many fans said it wasn’t just her hair and makeup that looked different. Some described her as “unrecognizable”, while meaner commentators said she looked “Muppet-like”, a reference to the puppet television show.
Dr. Gary Motykie, a plastic surgeon to the stars in Beverly Hills, California, told DailyMail.com that while Twain looked “great” for her age, he saw several signs that she may have had cosmetic enhancements.
He said her lack of lines and “wider” eyes suggested she may have had a brow lift, a procedure that involves making an incision behind the hairline to lift and tighten the skin, smooth wrinkles and reduce sagging. .
I FEEL LIKE A (NEW) WOMAN! Shania Twain is pictured above in 2013, left, and at the People’s Choice Country Awards last month. Plastic surgeons say she may have received fillers, Botox and a blepharoplasty, or brow lift, that would open her eyes.
He also suggested that her lack of wrinkles could be due to Botox use, and said her fuller face in previous images suggested she had used filler.
He added that her dramatic costume made him suspect she had had work done because celebrities can do this to “distract attention” from cosmetic changes.
“It’s an effective way to change the focus and keep people speculating,” he added.
‘In recent years, Shania Twain has been known to use wigs to completely transform her appearance, allowing her to regularly reinvent herself.
“In the world of celebrity plastic surgery, we have also noticed that dramatic hairstyles are increasingly being used to distract from the changes that may have occurred due to going under the knife or receiving dermal fillers and Botox.”
Dr. Adam Rubinstein, a plastic surgeon in Miami, Florida, told DailyMail.com that he suspected Shania may have had blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery.
“Shania has beautiful cheekbones, an incredible jaw, she has a great natural structure and she is aging especially well,” he said.
‘But the one thing I do see is that his eyes look really refreshed, particularly the upper eyelids.
“Her upper eyelids look a little fuller and heavier beforehand, but then when you look at the People’s Choice Awards, they look a little more open and bright.
THAT DOESN’T IMPRESS ME VERY MUCH: The Queen of Country, 59, showed off her new look last month.
He added: “It may be makeup, but it seems that because they look so refreshed, an upper eyelid lift (or blepharoplasty) is possible.”
Shania has denied having undergone any plastic surgery and has told the sun in May at the beginning of his third Las Vegas residency – Come on Over: ‘Every month or day that I notice another bit of sagging or another bit of cellulite, I want to know what’s there.
“I want to be okay with this instead of thinking, I have to cover it up or not look.” I can’t change it and I don’t plan to change it superficially.
‘I have to go on stage without feeling like I have to cover myself. I want to feel liberated.’

In January of this year, she also denied the rumors while on the Hoda Kotb show, saying she loved her “own skin.”
DailyMail.com has contacted Shania’s team for comment.
After she debuted her new look at the People’s Choice Awards, fans were quick to comment on social media, with one saying: “No way, she’s not Shania.”
A second added, “until I read it was her, I couldn’t recognize her,” and a third said, “plastic surgery ruins what was a beautiful face.”
Surgeons also compared photographs of Shania from 2008 to the late 2010s to suggest she may have received filler.
Shania Twain appears on the left at the 42nd CMA Awards in November 2008, and on the right at the Billboard Women in Music event in 2016.
Dr. Motykie said, “I think what some people do instead, and a lot of people, when they start to get older they want to try things that don’t involve incisions and big surgeries.
“So they start playing with things like injectable fillers and Botox to try to eliminate sagging skin without lifting it or scarring it, and in many cases, they start overfilling it.”
“They do it a little, and a little more, and then the filling starts to absorb water and they start to look spongy.”
Dr. Rubinstein also suggested that her wrinkle-free appearance was probably helped by Botox, and suggested that she could be keeping her lips filled with filler.
But he disagreed with suggestions that she had used filler in the rest of her face, saying: “The type of puffiness we see with filler is usually in specific places, and I don’t see that in her, as generally “It looks fuller.”
“The bloated appearance may be more due to weight gain.”
Dr Christopher Costa, who runs Platinum Plastic Surgery in Las Vegas, told DailyMail.com that he thought the initial changes in his appearance were due to weight gain.
“I agree that her face has changed dramatically over the last decade, from a fuller, rounder appearance to a much more sculpted and sharp appearance,” she said.
“However, my opinion is that the changes in your face may be more related to general weight changes.”
Shania Twain is pictured left at the AMAs in November 2019 and right at the Academy of Country Music Awards in August 2022.
In 2018, Shania underwent open throat surgery to repair her vocal cords after her nerves were damaged by a Lyme disease infection.
The superstar said the disease left her unable to project her voice for seven years and she was “petrified” about having to go under the knife to repair it.
She told the UK’s Graham Norton Show in 2023: “Honestly, I’m grateful.
“I spent a lot of time thinking that I would never be able to sing again or that I wouldn’t be able to cheer at a really loud sports game.”
Shania is famous for her health and fitness routine, which has kept her body in tip-top condition for decades.
Revealing her diet in May this year, Shania said she is a vegetarian and only consumes liquids before her shows, such as spinach and blueberry smoothies.
He also works out three to five times a week and says he loves playing tennis and the court is his gym.
