Over the years, eyelid surgery has been refined and no longer produces a surprised look and is instead now a precise way to lift the face without undergoing a facelift.
Many celebrities have undergone this subtle procedure because it only requires a few weeks of recovery, allowing them to return to the red carpet and premieres.
Blepharoplasty is also more of a tweak, so it won’t lead fans of an A-star to wonder what exactly they did to change their face overnight.
To find out why blepharoplasty has become the procedure of choice for so many celebrities, FEMAIL spoke with a board-certified plastic surgeon based in New York City. Dr. Darrick Antell.

“The procedure made me look refreshed and took years off my appearance,” Dr. Antell told DailyMail.com.
Since then, he has performed blepharoplasty countless times, describing it as a “mini facelift.”
“Eyelid surgery removes excess skin from the eyelids,” Dr. Antell advised.
‘With age, the eyelids stretch and the muscles that support them weaken.
“As a result, excess skin and fat can accumulate above and below the eyelids.”
Dr. Antell explained that an eyelid lift, or upper blepharoplasty, “removes excess skin and lifts sagging or sagging eyelids,” while making fine incisions, while a lower blepharoplasty “removes eye bags and tightens sagging skin” without visible sutures or incisions.
Generally both are done at the same time, with three installments.
It costs $15,000 to pay the surgeon for the upper and lower eyelids, or $8,000 for just one, $3,500 for the operating room, and about $1,000 for the anesthesiologist, making a total of $19,500.

The recovery period is only 72 hours, with some swelling or bruising around the eyes.

Jane, 86, has openly talked about undergoing plastic surgery and spoke to Vogue about how she regrets having a facelift.
The New York-based plastic surgeon believes Renee Zellweger, who looks incredibly young at 55, received an eye lift, as did Jane Fonda, who has been open about plastic surgery.

While an eye lift can help temporarily avoid a face lift, there are other adjustments that many stars make to help combat aging at the same time.
“Eyelid surgery is often performed with other facial rejuvenation procedures, such as a face lift, brow lift, or fat transfer,” Dr. Antell divulged.
“An eye lift does not treat crow’s feet, but laser or Botox treatment can reduce these fine lines,” the New York City surgeon continued.
The plastic surgeon said that blepharoplasty can also be combined with canthoplasty, which is commonly called cat-eye lift surgery and is also a hit among celebrities.
Canthoplasty tightens the muscles, ligaments and tissues in the corner of the eye.
