A Planet Fitness gym-goer was shocked to discover a no-jacket policy at the fitness chain.
The runner, who goes by Camrun on TikTok, posted a video to share his frustration with politics just before the New Year.
He explained that he used his jacket to cover the time and distance screen on a treadmill while running at the gym.
After running for almost an hour, an employee told him he was breaking the rules by leaving his jacket in the machine.
“The worker comes up to me after 40 minutes and says, ‘Hey, we actually have a no jacket or bag policy,'” the jogger said in the video, which had been viewed more than 350,000 times as of Thursday by the morning.
He noted that the employee never took his jacket away after telling him he had to take it to the front desk.
The runner, who said he works out regularly at Planet Fitness, insisted he had never heard of the policy until then.
However, the rule is a requirement for all gym-goers.
One gym-goer, who goes by Camrun on TikTok, posted a video to share her frustration over a petty policy at Planet Fitness.
The policy, which can be found at Planet Fitness’ websitestates that personal effects “should be kept in lockers.”
Planet Fitness members should keep their bags and unused clothing off the gym floor.
The company explained in its rules that items on the gym floor could pose a safety hazard and be subject to theft.
Several viewers who watched the video also expressed surprise at the existence of the policy.
‘I always bring my bag! I have so many things in that bag that help me exercise,’ commented one TikToker.
“It’s crazy that they messed with you.”
Others claimed that enforcement is up to the gym and that the employee may have brought it up because his manager was being a “Karen.”
‘I think it’s from gym to gym. Because honestly, my PF doesn’t care: people carry their bags and jackets with them all the time,” one wrote.
Daily Mail has contacted Planet Fitness for comment.
All Planet Fitness members must keep their bags and unused clothing off the gym floor.
Several Reddit users who were already aware of the policy understood why Planet Fitness may have created it.
“More or less clothes and bags on the floor create a tripping hazard and also jackets and things hanging from machines cause damage,” one Reddit user wrote in a 2023 report. mail.

Others didn’t understand “why it’s important” if the jackets don’t get in the way.
‘There is literally no way anyone could have stepped on my stuff. To think anyone would be mad at me for this is ridiculous to me,” wrote one Planet Fitness member.
As of September 2024, Planet Fitness had approximately 19.6 million members and 2,637 locations, according to a Nov. 7 press release.
The gym has branches in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Panama, Mexico, Australia and Spain.
The company emphasizes that its gyms are “judgment-free” zones and more than 90 percent of its clubs are independently owned.
