A plane’s window has been smashed with two alleged brawls erupting mid-air in front of terrified passengers and crew.
The problem occurred Thursday night on a flight from Cairns to Darwin, via the island of Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria, and resulted in not one but two emergency landings in which four passengers were attacked.

The plane’s internal window was smashed in the second of two alleged mid-air brawls in which four passengers were arrested
It came after the first alleged brawl broke out and the plane returned to Cairns.
When the plane landed, a woman was taken off the flight and charged with assault, disorderly conduct in an aircraft and failure to comply with safety instructions by cabin crew.
The unnamed airline then attempted to make the journey across northern Australia for a second time.
But the group of passengers involved in the first alleged fight started arguing again and another fight ensued.
The plane landed at Alyangula on Groote Eylandt and was met by NT police who arrested three passengers.

A 23-year-old man was charged with intentionally endangering the safety of others, aggravated assault, damage to property, disorderly conduct in a public place and violating a domestic violence order.
A 23-year-old woman was charged with property damage, disorderly conduct in a public place and deliberately endangering the safety of others.
Another passenger, 22, was charged with commercial drug trafficking, possession of drugs, obstruction of a member of the police force, disorderly conduct and possession of liquor in a restricted area.
Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin and the Airnorth regional service all fly from Cairns to Darwin.
