Felipe Vazquez is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl
Felipe Vazquez, the Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher charged with asking for a child, met his 13-year-old female victim on social media, and on one occasion drove to her home in Pennsylvania, put her on his lap, pulled her pants down and unsuccessfully tried to have sex with her in his car, according to an incident report.
Vazquez was arrested Tuesday morning in his Pittsburgh apartment based on a warrant issued in Lee County, Florida, where the victim now lives. The 28-year-old All-Star remains in Allegheny County jail and is accused of computer pornography, a request for a child and one count of providing obscene material to minors.
According to an incident report from the Lee County Sheriff & # 39; s Office, the victim contacted Vazquez at the age of 13 and the two continued to communicate for the past three years.
At one point, researchers say, Vazquez drove to her home in Pennsylvania and pulled down her pants while they were in his car. From there, Vazquez is said to have laid her on his lap and & # 39; tried to penetrate her vagina with his penis, but this did not succeed & # 39 ;, said Lee County Sheriff incident report of August 5.
On another occasion, Vazquez invited the victim to PNC Park in Pittsburgh, where the two took photos outside the team's bullpen.

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Vazquez was arrested Tuesday morning in his apartment in Pittsburgh on the basis of a felony warrant issued in Florida. He remains in the prison of Allegheny County and would be read on Tuesday afternoon
During the three years that the two were in contact, the alleged victim's family moved to Florida, where authorities received information that Vazquez had a reported sexual relationship with a 13-year-old woman.
Vazquez is also accused of performing a sexual act in a video that, according to police, he sent to the girl in July. The police seized various electronic devices in his apartment in Pittsburgh.
Police say the girl, now 15, has recently received text messages from Vazquez, who allegedly suggested they could meet after the season.
A hearing will take place on September 25 to determine whether Vazquez will be extradited to Florida, his lawyers told CBS Pittsburgh.

& # 39; On Thursday, August 8, 2019 … a 15-year-old female child received sexually explicit photos and a video text message from Felipe Vazquez, & # 39; read the arrest statement. & # 39; The victim was also asked by the suspect to participate in illegal sexual behavior.
& # 39; Although Vazquez's face does not appear on any text photo, the police could recognize him by his tattoos. The alleged victim also calls him repeatedly & # 39; Felipe & # 39 ;.
The Pirates issued a statement on Tuesday.
& # 39; Today we were informed of an active law enforcement investigation with Felipe Vázquez and his subsequent arrest & # 39 ;, said the statement. & # 39; We take this issue, and especially these allegations, extremely seriously.
& # 39; We have informed the commissioner's office of the investigation and the arrest. The office of the statutory auditor will immediately place Felipe Vazquez on administrative leave (and therefore a limited list) under the common MLB / MLBPA policy. Pirate manager Clint Hurdle discussed the investigation with reporters on Tuesday.
"Many different emotions were sparked today, in many different places," Hurdle said. & # 39; How do we connect and support our path through those emotions, how do we continue to improve ourselves and do we keep ourselves to a high standard on and off the field. & # 39;
Vazquez will be paid while on administrative leave, but there is still a chance that his contract will be canceled if he is convicted of a crime.
He owes $ 5.25 million for the 2020 season and another $ 7.25 million for 2021. The Pirates also have options on Vazquez for 2022 and 2023.
Vazquez is the most dominant reliever of the National League in recent years. In addition to his two All-Star nods, the hard-throwing lefty currently has a minuscule 1.65 earned run-average, which would be the best in baseball if he had enough innings to qualify.
In a separate incident, Vazquez reportedly hit teammate Kyle Crick earlier this month. Crick then injured his finger in the following melee and has since undergone a seasonal operation.
