Pip Edwards and her PE Nation co-founder Claire Greaves’ split comes amid fresh rumors that they had a toxic row and can no longer work together.
This is despite the pair denying they had a falling out last year when Greaves’ office at PE Nation headquarters was cleared out while she was on extended leave.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed on Thursday that Greaves (formerly Tregoning) would retain his part of the business and remain on the board, but that Edwards would take over as sole ‘visionary’ creative director.
They said: ‘Pip and the company fully support Claire’s transition to pursue other creative endeavors and wish her the absolute best in her next chapter.’
Just a year ago, Daily Mail Australia revealed that Greaves’ office at PE Nation’s headquarters in Alexandria, in Sydney’s inner west, had been transformed into a creative space while she was on leave.
At the time, a well-placed source claimed the co-founders were involved in a feud – which PE Nation and Greaves themselves denied, insisting the pair were ‘committed and collaborative’.
But Daily Mail Australia understands the real reason Greaves – who has a restraining order against her ex-husband, Tim Tregoning – has moved away from the day-to-day management of the business is due to ongoing tensions between the pair.
A source familiar with the situation said there was ‘no love lost’ in the decision to end their business partnership.

The shock exit
According to the statement Thursday, Greaves left to pursue other creative endeavors.
“Claire Greaves has made the decision to step down from the day-to-day running of the business,” a spokesman said.
Claire remains on the board and will retain her shareholding as the business continues to thrive in Pip Edwards’ highly creative, visionary hands at the helm.

Greaves did not address her split with Edwards after Thursday’s announcement.
Instead, she used Instagram to post photos from her trip to Los Angeles.
Edwards also did not directly address Greaves’ departure from the company, instead writing that PE Nation had achieved B Corp status — meaning it has achieved global recognition for its sustainability efforts.
Rumors of Greaves’ departure from PE Nation had circulated for months, fueled in part by her long absence from the office.
Last year, a company spokesman would not confirm whether Greaves intended to return to headquarters.
They said: “While Claire is not in the office, we use her office space for other purposes, including a meeting and creative space.”
The pair were pictured together at the Australian Fashion Awards in October, but Greaves appears to be spending a lot of time in Byron Bay recently, where she is involved with the luxury guest house, Sun Ranch.

Marriage breakdown
Amidst rumors of Greaves’ breakup with Edwards, it was revealed that she and her ex-husband Tim Tregoning were quietly separating in 2022, but the news was announced eight months later, last January.
The former couple have two children together. She told the Sydney Morning Herald at the time the split was amicable.
“It’s very friendly, we still love each other, we co-parent and he remains a good friend,” she said.
‘Things change and that’s just what happened to us, but we get through it with a lot of respect and support for each other.’

In November last year he was arrested and taken to Manly Police Station, in Sydney’s northern beaches, where officers lodged a domestic violence warrant against him on Greaves’ behalf.
He was then charged with stalking or intimidating her with intent to cause physical or mental harm between November 1 and 3 last year.
Tregoning, who has the name ‘Claire’ tattooed on her ribs alongside a heart and arrows, has pleaded not guilty and is being represented by celebrity lawyer Bryan Wrench. The case is still before the courts.
Last year he was slapped with a good behavior bond after he was caught buying a $600 bag of cocaine from a Bondi Beach dealer.
A court heard he bought the drugs on the same day Greaves told him not to come home. Despite that situation, she still wrote him a glowing character reference.

The rise of PE Nation
Greaves and Edwards worked together as designers at Sass & Bide before teaming up to launch their activewear label in 2016.
They transformed the luxury label into an international brand serving a large number of celebrity clients.
In May 2023, they expanded by opening their first bricks-and-mortar store in The Galeries on Sydney’s George Street.
Designed by an architect, the store features custom lighting, sculptures and furniture by local designers.
According to the company’s website, PE Nation was ‘born out of a universal need for multi-faceted active wear, given the global shift towards juggling a fast-paced life’.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Greaves and Edwards for comment.
