The co-founder of PE Nation has left her own label to return to the role of creative director of Australian fashion brand Ksubi

Pip Edwards has left PE Nation, the sportswear brand she co-founded, to return to her fashion roots.

The 44-year-old Sydney fashion designer and socialite announced on Monday her surprise return to Ksubi, the Australian streetwear brand she helped build with her ex Dan Single two decades ago.

The news comes just weeks after the PE Nation co-founder made the shock announcement that she was stepping down from her role as creative director of the popular sportswear brand.

“As fate would have it, today I announce my return to Ksubi as Creative Director – a true full circle moment,” Pip wrote in her announcement, which included a photo of herself posing with Ksubi CEO Craig King in black jeans and a simple white T-shirt.

“Since its inception, Ksubi has been at the center of the global cultural zeitgeist, thriving at the intersection of fashion, art and music,” Pip continued in her caption.

“Having been part of the original team 20 years ago, I am very excited to once again join the talented Ksubi team and contribute to their already impressive global success. Pip++.”

Pip’s inner circle of influential designers, models and media personalities flocked to the comments to congratulate her.

Melbourne model and ‘Queen WAG’ Bec Judd wrote: “So good! I still have my Ksubi jeans from 20 years ago.”

“Amazing!!!” commented Pip’s best friend and KIIS FM radio host Jackie O Henderson. “I’m sooo happy for you my beautiful girl. What a team!”

“How wonderful,” said Australian journalist and podcast host Jess Rowe, with a series of heart emojis.

Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid’s celebrity stylist Dani Michelle added: ‘OMG I’m going to run to KSUBI NOW!’

Pip’s ex-husband Dan Single founded the edgy jeans brand, then known as Tsubi, with friends Gareth Moody and George Gorrow in 1999.

In 2004, she was hired as a “sexytaria” and that unusual position turned out to be the opportunity of a lifetime for Pip, who once sported a mullet and rattail hairstyle when she opened Tsubi’s first store in Bondi Beach.

Joining the company would change her life in more ways than one, as she not only rose through the ranks at Ksubi to become a lead designer, but she also fell in love with Dan and welcomed a son with him, Justice Single, now 18.

Dan now works as a DJ in Byron Bay and is a well-known face on the city’s social circuit, using the stage name ‘Dangerous Dan’ when playing at local nightclubs and festivals.

Dan and Pip were once the ‘it’ couple of the Australian fashion industry, but split in 2008.

The co-parents put to rest speculation that they had rekindled their romance in 2022, after the pair were spotted “spending a lot of time together” at the Paco Rabanne dinner for Australian Fashion Week.

In 2008, Pip joined Sass & Bide as a Senior Creative and Accessories Designer. Four years later, in 2012, she was hired by General Pants Co. as Design Director.

Both roles were crucial to developing her design skills, business knowledge and personal style.

In 2016, she launched PE Nation with her former business partner Claire Tregoning, tapping into the growing trend of sportswear as fashion at just the right moment.

It would become the brand’s most powerful advertisement, serving as a walking billboard for the brand at every opportunity.

Last month, Pip announced that she had taken a “step back” from the popular fashion brand.

The designer revealed that while she will remain a force at the brand, she will no longer serve in the role of creative director she took on following the departure of co-founder Claire Greaves in March.
