Piers Morgan accuses Meghan Markle of telling “downright lies” about her claim that she married Harry three days before their ceremony in Windsor in a new interview.

The editor of Mail Online at large makes the comments in a preview clip of his whims on Australian television by Karl Stefanovic in a 60-minute one-on-one interview.

A snippet of what’s going to be a compelling interview shows Morgan calling Meghan a liar — and saying she even personally filed a complaint with his boss before he was sensationally fired. Good Morning Britain he led to the top of the breakfast ratings.

In the new interview, Morgan also launches another attack on cancellation culture after leaving GMB following a live battle of words with the show’s weatherman, Alex Beresford, over Harry and Meghan.

Now the bestselling author of “Wake Up: Why the World has Gone Nuts” has hit back at the pair — and the “wake up” goody two-shoes types in their grip.

Recalling Ms. Markle’s claim that she and Harry were secretly married three days before the official ceremony, he snaps in the interview: “They were outright lies.

‘I don’t believe a word she says. Which [ceremony] would make the Archbishop of Canterbury a criminal.’

In March this year, the Archbishop of Canterbury rejected the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s claim that he married them in a secret ceremony before their wedding at Windsor Castle.

Justin Welby broke his silence on what the couple had told Oprah Winfrey, saying he signed Harry and Meghan’s marriage certificate the day millions saw them get married.

The legal wedding was at St George’s Chapel on Saturday, May 19, 2018, he said.

He was asked ‘what happened to Meghan and Harry? Did you really marry them three days before the official wedding?’

He said: ‘Before the wedding I had a number of private and pastoral meetings with the Duke and Duchess.

The legal wedding was on Saturday. I signed the marriage certificate, which is a legal document, and I would have committed a serious offense if I had signed it knowing it was false.

Stefanovic is one of Morgan’s biggest critics in Australia and has previously furiously defended the young couple against Morgan’s attacks.

Speaking of Morgan’s feud with Meghan, Stefanovic said in 2018, “I mean, what’s that guy doing? He has completely lost the plot.

“I don’t know how his poor co-host will put up with it. Imagine having to put up with such a guy who is so haughty and selfish himself that he would think he would say those things about her.’

He responded to

“It’s disgusting. You wouldn’t take it. He has to go. He doesn’t like it here.’

In Sunday night’s TV showdown, Stefanovic meets Morgan again on television, labeling Morgan as “just an angry old man” – leading to laughter among the media veteran.

Morgan hits back to insist: “Freedom of speech is actually more important than the Meghan Markle debacle.

Who are these ‘awake’ people who walk around like they are Kim Jong-un with a touch of Vladimir Putin.

“Come on everyone, take a chill pill.”

But Stefanovic replies: ‘Are you going to take one?’

Morgan also cheekily joked that Australian viewers would rather he host Nine’s Today show than Stefanovic.

But despite their disagreements over the Royals, insiders say the pair got on well during the 45-minute interview, with Stefanovic in Sydney and Morgan near his home in Kensington, London.

“It’s fair to say there were surprisingly few fireworks,” said one of the production staff. “It seems these two are not miles apart on this subject.

“If anything, there were more fireworks over cricket, with a lot of nonsense prior to an interview about who was going to win the Ashes in December… Australia or England.”

The insider added: “Piers said the only Australian he wants to cancel is Steve Smith for The Ashes.

“And Piers was also turning on Karl by saying that now that he’s sure he’s free now, people would rather see him host the Today Show.”

The Daily Mail’s Australian Piers Morgan is interviewed exclusively by Karl Stefanovic on Channel Nine’s 60 Minutes at 8.30pm (AEDT)
