Piers Morgan, the Editor-at-Large of DailyMail.com, has revealed that he has received messages on behalf of members of the royal family expressing “ gratitude that someone stood up for them ” in the aftermath of Harry and Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. Meghan.
Morgan made the confession in an interview with AdditionalBilly Bush, which airs Tuesday night, when asked if anyone from the royal family had reached out after the couple’s interview last month.
“I’ve sent a number of messages to me on behalf of several members of the Royal Family,” Morgan said.
He would not reveal whether it was senior members of the royal family who communicated the messages.
“I’m not going to get into who it was … but gratitude that someone got up,” he said.
Morgan left his UK breakfast TV show, Good Morning Britain, on March 9 due to his on-air comments about Meghan Markle in the wake of the Oprah interview.
He had said he didn’t believe a word of Markle’s interview and slapped her for insinuating the royal family was racist.
Piers Morgan, editor-in-chief of DailyMail.com, disclosed the confession in an interview with Extra’s Billy Bush, airing Tuesday night.
“An attempt has been made to cancel me. There have been many attempts like this, and somehow I remain resolutely unanswered, ”Morgan said.
“In the end I had to apologize for not believing Meghan Markle, who I don’t believe – and I believe, ironically, that you shouldn’t believe someone if you don’t want to,” Morgan said of his departure from his show.
In the aftermath, there were reports that Markle had personally contacted the ITV network boss, Morgan’s former employer, to complain about him.
Morgan said he didn’t know until after he left that Markle had contacted the network.
“It was certainly a really interesting revelation of where I am as she was clearly trying to put enormous pressure on my bosses to take action against me,” he said.
The network received 57,000 complaints about Morgan following his Markle comments, which he said came from an “ online mob ” threatening death on his family, including his sons.
‘My wife has always fully supported this, but she hates the online abuse. The idea that my sons should be targeted by so-called liberals in a way that was threatening and insulting to them is utterly disgusting, ”he said.
Asked by Bush what he said to Markle given the chance, Morgan said he would ask her to sit down for an interview so he could ask her some “tough questions.”
I would say to Meghan Markle, ‘Look … sit with me with your husband for an equally long interview … and let me ask you more difficult questions about all of your claims,’ Morgan said.
But let me ask you a broader question, namely this: If you hate the royal family so much, why do you keep your royal titles? Why would you do that if you don’t make millions and millions of dollars on your own? ‘
Morgan revealed that he has received messages on behalf of members of the royal family expressing “ gratitude that someone stood up for them ” in the wake of Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.
Harry and Meghan made at least 17 allegations in their Oprah interview that could be categorized as refuted, exaggerated, or unverifiable
His appearance on Extra came after Morgan gave his first extended TV interview on Monday in the wake of the controversy to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson.
During that interview, Morgan redoubled his criticism of Meghan and Harry, saying that he finds their ‘smearing’ of the Ryals and the Queen ‘disgusting’.
He also pointed out that Harry was the only member of the family who had to apologize for racism.
In 2006, while in the British Army, the prince had made a video diary describing an Asian member of his platoon as “our little Paki friend.”
Morgan said, “I’ve met the Royals many times and I don’t believe they are racist.
The only member of the royal family who had to publicly apologize for being racist is Prince Harry, who had to apologize a few years ago after using a very offensive racist term about a Pakistani soldier he worked with.
And he also used other racist remarks in that story published by a British tabloid.
“Which may explain his hatred of the British tabloids.”
A year earlier, he had to publicly apologize for wearing a Nazi swastika at a theme party.
‘He’s the only one. Isn’t that ironic? That wasn’t mentioned by Oprah Winfrey – and it should have been, ”Morgan said.
Morgan also argued with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Monday over allegations of racism without naming the specific individuals involved.
They claimed a senior in the family had asked how dark their son Archie’s skin would be.
He also noted that both he and his friend Sharon Osbourne, who defended Morgan for voicing his opinion, had been forced from their jobs. Osbourne left the daytime chat show The Talk on March 26 after a heated argument on March 10 when she defended his right to speak his mind
Morgan said he wanted to learn more about the context, including whether the comments were harmless and harmless or with malicious overtones.
He also noted that both he and his friend Sharon Osbourne, who defended Morgan for voicing his opinion, had been forced from their jobs.
Osbourne left the daytime chat show The Talk on March 26 after a heated argument on March 10 when she defended his right to speak his mind.
If you’re going to accuse people of racism – and I have a real interest in this debate because I’ve been accused of racism simply because I didn’t believe Meghan Markle, who we now know wasn’t telling the truth during that interview.
‘And I am very angry about that, and I am very sad about that.
And I’ve seen friends of mine, like Sharon Osbourne, got kicked out of their jobs for defending me, apparently defending a racist.
“ I actually saw Don Lemon at CNN, the man who sits in my old office who I thought was a friend, actually say on his show that I committed an act of racism by not believing someone. Is that an act of racism?
So you have the queen, and frankly every member of the royal family is still smeared with the idea that they may have expressed concern about Archie’s skin color. Well, have they? And if so, who was it?
“As a British taxpayer, who contributes to the royal family, I would really like to know if there is a real racist in the palace.”
Prince Harry then told Winfrey it was not the Queen or Prince Philip.
Morgan also questioned Winfrey’s behavior during the interview, asking why she didn’t push for more answers or clarification.
“My problem with this whole interview is that these incredibly damaging allegations were thrown out, and none of them were properly challenged,” he said. None of them were challenged based on actual reality. None of them were asked: who is this person? ‘
He also sued that 17 of the couple’s claims have since been proven to be false, exaggerated, or unverifiable.
