This public toilet is located on the sixth floor of the Deji Plaza shopping mall in Nanjing, eastern China.

Is this the most incredible public toilet in the world?

Some believe so, with posts calling it a “restroom experience like no other” and a “lavish sanctuary.” And – after browsing the photos below – you will be able to express yourself in our survey at the end.

The luxury bathroom is nestled on the sixth floor of the Deji Plaza shopping center in Nanjing, eastern China.

From a lavish hallway with a flower-speckled fountain to wallpapered walls adorned with champagne-colored grills, not to mention being incongruous with the concept of public restrooms, its design might even be considered excessive in a five-star hotel.

Other notable features include a decadent walk-in closet with vanity mirrors fit for a movie star and a trendy lounge area, furnished with velvet sofas and a striking accent chair.

Its plush cushions, displaying delicate tones of blush pink, mauve and orange, help create a welcoming oasis where shoppers can slouch and rest in style, despite the proximity of the restrooms.

Visitors can also admire the shiny black-and-white floor, sprawling plants and even the bathroom ceiling, gilded with bee-shaped ornaments.

The architecture firm behind the project, Shanghai-based X+Living, said the bathroom had become so popular that tourists flocked to the mall just to see it.

Brand director Cecilia Huang told MailOnline Travel: “Many people come to the mall specifically to visit, take photos and share them on social media, making it a phenomenal tourist attraction.

What followed, however, was the company’s more ambitious idea of creating a “functional public space” that “combines art appreciation and leisure experience,” she explained.

Shoppers are welcomed into the facility via a long hallway that divides into three distinct areas, including the “art experience room,” “rest area” and “restrooms,” Cecilia explained.

“The furniture, sinks and other functional objects were designed to resemble art installations,” she added.
